My wife was looking for a clock with sound and we found this machine on Amazon, she liked the features it had so we decided to give it a try. After setting it up and learning its functions she found it had more than expected things it could do! With the 30 different sounds that you can program, you can wake up with not only some natural sounds but with increasing light levels. It can also function as a night light, which she really needs at night and also helps her fall asleep easier. It has a sleep timer so now she can set it to fall asleep and not worry about tuning it off as it will turn off by itself. The clock function is very nice, its big enough to see at night without glasses and is dimmable so not to be annoying! Good feature! She especially likes the sunrise function as you can set the light to increase prior to the alarm so she can gently awake! The design is very nice and pleasing in our bedroom and makes a great sleep improvement. Oh, and another item we found that is not widely known is that it has a charging port on the back to charge your phone while you sleep! Really nice! This alarm is pretty close to PERFECT. I have used a light alarm for 20+ years. It is the best way to wake up! When my old school light alarm died about 4 years ago, I purchased one of the round light alarms that are all over Amazon from JALL Store. The round alarm was NOT intuitive to use and did not keep the correct time so I purchased this sound machine. It is 100 times better than my round alarm!! Pros *Waking up to the light is a gentle natural way to wake. *Intuitive to use. *The cover makes the light very soft. *The sound machine has a lot of great white noise options. Cons *It only has one alarm. (I prefer being able to set the alarm for two different times.) *The up down arrows should control light. It is annoying to click the light on button multiple times to get the light level I want. Also when I go to turn it off, I often accidentally press it once instead of press and hold, and it adjusts the light. *The light alarm setting goes in 10 minute intervals from 10-60 min. I wish it could be set for 15 minutes because that is my preferred time before the birds start to sing. *It only has one sound after the light. My very old alarm had light for 15 minutes, nature sound for 15 minutes, and then a regular loud alarm. I rarely heard the loud alarm, but it was good to have. I just set my phone as the backup. I bought this to put in my girls' bedroom. With a sound machine, a peaceful alarm clock, and a night light all rolled into one, it makes perfect sense. Brightness: This clock is adjustable with levels between barely there and "staring directly into the sun". Whatever your needs may be, it's got them handled. Sounds: Volume, as with brightness, is highly adjustable. No Low-Medium-High only here, you have a large scale to play with to find your sweet spot. There are a good variety of sounds to choose from, 30-40 or so overall I'd say between the nature sounds and white/brown/red/whatever noise. Alarm: Alarm function works great and there are some pleasant alarm tones to choose from. The "sunrise" function is cute. Timer: It works. You can choose 30 minutes-a couple of hours. It would be nice if you could set the timer to turn off sound or light only, but it shuts both down if they are on. Cord length is a little short but manageable. I kept the quick reference card handy because the buttons are a little complex but I'm sure I will learn them with a little more time. My daughters are very happy with this and therefore so am I.
