My dimensions are hips 38 - 40" and waist 28 - 29" and I ordered the Brown Waist 31"-32". The Brown is as shown in the advertisement. The scratch-resistant buckle has been tested as this belt lived in a belt basket until I purchased some belt organizers. It was clanging around with rhinestone buckles and still remains scratch free. The copper buckle features solid construction with attention to detail; it has smooth edges, secure clasps, and a finish that resists wear and tear. The buckle fits comfortably against the body. The curved designs reduces pressure points, while the width of the buckle matches the belt strap. Full-grain leather is the recommended leather for making belts. The reason being is that it retains the natural fibers and textures, and provides durability and a rich appearance. This belt is made with 100% Italian full-grain leather which presents all of the aforementioned attributes--rich appearance, durability and quality. This belt, if properly cared for, will last a lifetime. Normally, this level of quality sells for a much higher price. SIZE: My waist is 26" and I got the size 24-26" -- it truly only fits around my waist, not the fullest part of my hips. I suggest sizing up if you want it to fit comfortably around your hips or your hips are naturally wide compared to your waist. The nice thing is that the product comes with a drive punch tool to cut extra holes or even resize the belt - so going large is a safer bet. QUALITY: This is genuinely quite a high quality piece, with full grain leather (which they explain in more detail on an informational card how it differs from leather that's been stripped apart), good hardware, and good craftsmanship. There are so many crappy belts sold in department stores and the like that it's nice to have at least one that will last forever, is of recognizably higher caliber, and instantly elevates your look. COLOR: I got 'brown', which is, as opposed to 'coffee', a richer, more multi-dimensional brown with undertones of deep red. I'm very pleased with this dye, it is really an exceptional color that would go with almost any outfit. VALUE: For $27 at time of writing, I'd say this is a great deal for a belt that will never fall apart like the multitudes on the market if given good care. Read more
First of all, why they label this as a women's belt, I don't know. I don't see anything about it that is particularly feminine...or masculine. It's a leather belt that can be worn by anyone, and I, a man, am going to wear it! That being said, it is a truly nice belt. The craftmanship on it is impressive. It is made in China, and, as evidenced by this belt, they are just as capable of producing a finely made, high quality belt as anyone else. The buckle end of it is a fascinating example of leather engineering. It has a leather strap that restricts the travel of the belt loop. I've never seen that before. The way the metal buckle is attached is also different. The buckle is attached to a separate strap of leather that is then attached by a brass (it appears) nut and bolt to the main belt strap. Unscrewing it allows you to cut the length of the belt from the buckle end (how many times have you "shortened" a belt by adding an extra hole on the other end?). Again, I have never seen that before. The precision cuts, stitching, thick metal buckle, decorative loop connector, and coloring is all beautifully done. Lately I have been reading a lot about leather, like how deceptive the label "genuine leather" is, so I like the idea of having something made of the best leather. They provide info educating you what leather types there are and, as far as I can tell, this is made of the best stuff. Go for it! It would definitely make a great gift...for a man or woman.
