Gorgeous print

Pro: I love love loved the print when I first saw the photos of these, and I loved them just as much when they arrived. So colorful, so cheerful. Pro: Pockets Con: The closure. I'm used to my tropical pants having elasticized waists, as part of the live-and-let-live them of tropical life. These have a long zipper up the very high waisted back! It's been years since I put on a skirt that zipped in the back, much less a pair of pants. And because they are so high waisted, it's quite a long zipper. A bit of a wrestling match. Con: These run a bit small. Either that or I'm a bit large. I ordered medium but I'm closer to a size 14 than a 12, and the elastic in the back isn't quite generous enough. They do fit, but it's a squeeze, and what with the problematic zipper, I may not wear these as much as pants easier to put on -- and take off. Read more

Great Pair!

These are just as colorful as they are in the picture. They are without a doubt one of the best things we have picked up on Amazon in the clothing department. They are bright and fun. The waist band is wide. There is some elastic on both sides. This means that the fabric doesn't get all bunchy and look more wrinkly than it needs to. In the back there is a big long zipper. And it is well set into the fabric and you can't see it. The fabric is not frayed and the stitches are well set into the fabric. This seems well made. The material is sturdy material. It's not bulky but nice thick fabric. The pockets are nice and deep. They are what they should be for a pair of woman's pants. This is true to size. It fits well. Read more

Fantastic colorful pants with nice pockets; pockets are big and deep; runs small; zipper in the back

I am so into wide leg pants. And into color. When I saw these, and saw from the pics that they have pockets, I got really excited. The pants came, and are great. With one small exception (the zipper is in the back), these pants are perfect. Material: The product description says these are 100% cotton. The pants I got appear to be 100% cotton, as described. The material is a similar weight to a quilting cotton, which is towards the thin range of material used for pants. The pants are not lined. Pants are a good weight for summer, and the baggy legs make them nice and cool. Colors are bright, and if you like the product pics, you should like what you get. Obviously the exact placement of patches and the exact patterns will be different for each pair of pants. How these are made: Patchwork fabric, rather than a printed patchwork pattern: The product pics show a patchwork style of print with large squares of fabric sewn together to make a bigger piece of fabric with different kinds of prints in different squares. When I got the pants, they are indeed patchwork. Several difference patterns of fabric were cut into squares, then patched together to make an even more colorful big piece of fabric. Both the patchwork pieces and the seams of the pants are done by sewing a stitch, then serging the loose edges. These are constructed well and the stitching looks to be sturdy to where these should hold up over time. Pockets: These have pockets and the pockets are great! About a year ago, I started wearing mens pants almost exclusively, because the pockets are so much bigger. Now, when I go back and wear my women's pants, even ones that used to be favorites, I am frustrated by the smaller pockets on womens clothes. For these pants, I liked the way they looked enough that I took a chance on the pockets. The pockets are nice and big and don't bother me, even though I'm wearing mostly mens pants and shorts. I can fit my entire hand up to my wrist into the pockets. I can fit my entire cell phone in. I can use the restroom or do outdoor activities with my cell phone in my pocket and I don't have to worry about it falling out. Zipper in the back: A major flaw with these pants, and the only flaw for me, is that the zipper is in the back. I can zip them myself, but it's annoying that they put the zipper where it's hard to reach. Also, the zipper doesn't have a button or anything at the top, so when zipped up, any tightness or pulling at the waist of the pants goes right onto the zipper. I fully expect that the zipper failing will be what ruins these pants, and that it will happen before the pants are worn out or faded. The zipper is all metal and it's not particularly bad quality or anything. It's just that it's in a bad location and it's a stress point. Fit: I'm currently a size 16 in most brands of women's pants. I might be a size 14 in a Docker Stretch or something that runs large, but really I'm solidly a 16 in most brands and cuts. I got these HongyuAmy pants in size XXL. They fit OK but maybe snug. I'm able to zip them without straining. I could not go down a size, but could go up a size. There is currently a product video with the model wearing these and turning around in them. The fit on the model is baggier in the hip than on me. It's not a dramatically different look and they don't look bad on me, but I do feel that 3XL would hang better on me, while still fitting at the waist. (They don't make 3XL in these pants at this time, but have other clothes in 3XL, so if I get more from them, I would do 3XL for my size 16.) For figuring out sizing, there isn't a size chart posted for these pants as of today, but I was able to find other clothes made by HongyuAmy and use the size charts and reviews there to figure out my size. Essentially the brand seems to run surprisingly small. For this specific style of pants, the "HongyuAmy Women African Print Waist Pants Ankara Nation Print Pants Clothing", the style is baggy and wearing them bigger may look better. I feel like if I had pants that were any smaller than what I got, that the front would hang in a pooch, but if I went bigger then the fit would be fine. The pants have two elastic panels, one on each side. These aren't enough to give much flexibility in sizing, but basically mean if you are in the ballpark but a little bigger, then you don't need a belt. Where are they made: These are made in China. The branding on the product page seems to be trying to look African in a way that's to sell to the U.S. I don't know that it makes any difference in what the pants actually are when you get them, but buying them is just plain buying clothes and definitely not fair trade or anything like that. Cleaning: These are marked dry clean only. But they are cotton?! I went ahead and washed them like normal clothes. I wash anything with zippers that can pull or velcro that can snag in a big zippered pillowcase, then I line dry all my laundry. These washed up fine. For the very first wash, I hand washed them, which I do with all brightly colored clothes so that I can make sure they don't bleed dye. These didn't bleed dye, not even a little. For these, I suspect that pulling the zipper might be the only concern, so probably wash them with the zipper zipped all the way up and with them in a laundry bag. Overall, these pants are nice. If you like the way they look in the pics, then I think you will like the pants. They are a decent solid 100% cotton pant with a unique look. Also, they have nice big pockets. Read more

As pictured

Lovely thick fabric as vibrant as the pictures. Says dry clean but I washed without a problem. The hips and legs are extremely wide. Doesn’t flatter my figure but with a slim fitting top and heels, can make it work for the beauty of the prints. Read more
