Soft, warm, and cozy. The long row of buttons allows for a variety of looks.
I ordered this Women Button Down Sweatshirt Fairycore Long Sleeve Lapel Collar Knit Cardigan because it looked cozy for winter; my office is in our chilly English basement, and I’ve been looking for a lightweight and warm sweater I can keep at my desk for an extra layer when I need one. Recently, I’ve been wearing long cardigans, more duster length. I wanted a waist or hip length sweater I could pull on when it gets chilly in my office; this striped one is cute, and more comfortable for sitting than the longer ones. The hip length hem doesn’t get tangled under me like the longer sweaters. This cardigan is made from polyester; the knit is soft and cozy, with a little bit of stretch. I really like the long line of buttons that runs straight down the front; there are fourteen buttons, and you can button it up all the way, or unbutton the top to make a folded collar look. You can also leave some of the bottom buttons open for a different look. The hand feel is nice; I don’t like that too-slick feel you sometimes get with polyester or poly blend knits, and this doesn’t have it. It feels soft and warm; it’s fairly lightweight, but quite warm. This is great for layering, and easy to peel off when you get warm (unless you buttoned all fourteen buttons, then it takes a moment to unbutton everything.) I’m not sure why the sales page calls this “fairy core”; to me, it has more of a retro look. The slim horizontal stripes evoke 90s grunge or Y2K styles, but you can wear this in a variety of ways. I love the versatility of the many buttons. I ordered this in a size L; the sales page didn’t provide a size chart. I usually wear a M tee and a L button down, but I’m a bit busty. Since this sweater has so many buttons in the front, I sized up to the L, and I’m glad I did. I don’t like gaps between buttons on my tops; the knit hip stretches, and the L fit well without gapping. I wear a 32 or 34 bra band, but a larger, non standard cup size. The L fit well; it also draped nicely, so my small waist wasn’t swamped in too much knit. I have an hourglass figure, and found this figure flattering. The thin horizontal stripes weren’t too wide, and the deep grey and navy color scheme didn’t add visual bulk. At the current price ($29.99) I think this sweater offers good value; I like knowing it’s machine washable, and I love the versatility of the many buttons, which allows for different looks. The rolled hems at the top, bottom, and end of sleeves is a nice touch that gives a bit of a boutique feel. Cute and cozy, this warm cardigan is a sturdy knit that should last through many winters, if cared for properly. Read more
