Who doesn't need a pair of comfortable, sharp as a tack, versatile, elegant-looking, slimming wide leg, beige or light khaki slacks? I got the tall so I can wear them with heels. I had planned to hem them to just the right length, but a higher shoe did the trick. I look and feel slim, long and lean. It makes me want to add a flowy white blouse and long scarf and just...I don't know... go somewhere and look fabulous there, or maybe just see myself in a mirror occasionally while I vacuum the house. There were a couple of old timey actresses who wore pants like these like it was a uniform, probably because this kind of garment was perfect for a lady who already had a way of looking an easy kind of fabulous. With these pants I could probably put on a T-shirt and I wouldn't even need jewelry. These are so classic, yet always very chic, light and airy, effortlessly beautiful, and appropriate and classy almost anywhere doing almost anything with timeless style. These perfectly fulfilled the "comfy flowy beige/khaki slacks" requirement for my wardrobe, and they're one of the tippy-top must-have staples, for sure, right up there with a soft wool sweater and a simple cuff bracelet, which, incidentally, would also look fantastic with these pants. Styling classics like this is such an easy success. No wonder those silver screen icons looked so amazing. They actually didn't try much, did they? It was really daring just to wear pants, even if the pants were way waaay wider legged than these and were more a horse riding dress than pants. I just find it very cool that we can rock the same lovely silhouettes, albeit very much updated of course, that the boldest of our predecessors introduced as a new possibility, and they donned the look so casually and with such grace that nobody could say it was wrong. They wore pants. It seems so basic now, but I, for one, am grateful to those superstars of old for paving such a large stretch of the road to equality. ... freedom ...for all of us to be ourselves. Until these pants got here I never really thought of how much of my present day freedom - from construction work to mommying to beauty school and auto repair with no real barriers - was brought about in part by something so simple as the earliest incarnations of the ubiquitous flowy khaki pant. If anyone thinks that's pretty cool, too, maybe click the "helpful" button? If nobody does, I'll probably change this review to basic size and fit information. These are five stars, with no reservations. There aren't that many things that can make me look fully pulled together right after rolling out of bed, feel like I'm wearing cozy pajamas in a business meeting, and move like I'm a spring that, if I fell forward, could simply flip end over end down to the bottom of the stairs, through the open double doors, and out onto the sidewalk.
