The hat looked very lovely. The soft fleece liner was not itchy or bothersome. The hat's wrap-around closure protects your neck. The face shield can be attached to the hat with snaps or placed with ear loops. However, the hat is very lightweight and does not seem to have any internal batting or layers of materials to create a warm layer. When the wind blows with gusto, it cuts through the thin outer and fleece layers. It's a bit of protection, but not as much as I would like. It is an excellent hat for walking about on chilly days.
