This boot makes a great first impression in person. It is genuine soft leather, and has a thin plush interior lining. The high top ankle support is actually soft too. I was extremely skeptical whether to order at first. I ordered countless brands of shoes recently including Columbia and had to return all of them because upon opening their show boxes I knew they could not withstand the evil concrete floor of my workplace. I stand and walk in a distribution center for 12 hours a day. I seriously believe these boots will help me tolerate the floor condition at work. Regardless, they feel ultra comfortable when I tried them on upon arrival and I was wearing a semi thick cotton sock. They come with a pair of extra insoles but I don't feel I need them. I ordered an 11 extra wide and they are roomy even with my semi thick socks. I'm very happy that I have no need to return these and I actually should order a second pair. These Ortho Comfoot boots are as pictured, with a wide width and wide tox box. Finally I expect to have a night after work without disruptive, tingling foot pain from my workplace when I wear these to work for the first time tomorrow. * I'm updating the review due to the condition of the shoes after only 3 days of wear. On the second day I noticed slight cracks across the top width of the shoes, and odd white dirt like spots. I wiped the shoes off wirh a dry cloth. The weather was dry and I was indoors only for 13 hours. Next day, the third day of wear in the daylight the white debris was visible again. I conclude the "leather' is breaking down causing this very visible condition. This is very disappointing. Perhaps the "leather" is coated or treated with something. It appears as if it will peel. These boots are really nice I purchased them in a size 8 and a half and I brought them for work. The quality seems to be good, this boots fits really comfortable on my feet. The width of the boot is really nice my toes have a lot of space.they are light weight not heavy at all. Read more

First impressions: WOW how light these boots are. Felt like air, not at all what I expected from a winter boot. The pair of boots arrived in individual booty bags and had foam risers to adjust your foot height inside. SIZING: Size 7 (39 Euro) is accurate for its size however I ordered an 8.5 so not sure why the wrong size was sent. The boots have a very plain look to them. The toe area flares wide giving you a lot of room inside. There is ample cushion in the heel. They feel very warm thanks to the lining. I DIDN'T LIKE material choice for the lining. The fleece type material (think slipper moccasins) mm can get damp and sweaty and this type of lining attracts odor. The lining is not removable. Fortunately this can be the partially mitigated through careful choice of sock type. The heel is high and made of dense material. The heel providdses good protection against abrasive surfaces like rocks. This boot says it's for winter but it is not fully waterproof. Also, the tongue is not connected to the ankle so you have about the height of the lowest shoelaces before water will enter boots. These boots do NOT have steel toes. These boots have a nice tread pattern around instep area giving you good traction on wet and uneven services. However the tread pattern gets smoother along the heel area. FINAL THOUGHTS: Boots are comfortable and are offer wide cut sizes. Sizing is accurate and boots are warm. However, for PREMIUM PRICED winter boots, these boots LACK features that you would expect on high-end boots such as better waterproof treated leather, steel toe, fully attached tongues. These boots LACK all these features, traded off in the name of Orthopedic diabetic. In my opinion, these boots best feature is how LIGHT weight they are. They make great walking boots. Read more
