I’ve had outfits like this before from my visit to Singapore, and I just wanted a fresh set. This one is cute and easy to wear, especially for summer. The fabric is very thin, and you can see through it when held up to the light, but that makes it perfect for hot weather. The workmanship feels straightforward rather than refined, giving it more of a handmade look. The fit is a little unusual. The ones I owned before were typically looser and wider, while this set is more fitted. It fits me just right, but if I were slightly heavier, it would be too tight. Since the material has no stretch and there is no side zipper, you have to pull the dress over your head to get it on. If you are considering this outfit, definitely check the size chart and maybe size up. The pants have a flat front with an elastic back. While the waist fits, the sides flare out, almost as if designed for wider hips. On me, it leaves two rounded sides sticking out. I’m hoping the fabric softens and relaxes after washing, which should help the fit. Luckily, the dress covers that part, so it’s not a deal breaker. Another quirky detail is that the pants only have one side pocket, which feels a bit odd but not a problem. The dupatta is pretty, but the print is only on one side and the fabric is thin yet stiff. I’m hoping it will soften and drape better after a wash. For reference, I’m 5’7” and 128 lbs. I was able to slip the dress over my head, but just barely. The dress measures about 19” across the chest, and from shoulder to hem it is about 40” long. Since the material does not stretch and there is no side zipper, sizing carefully is important. Overall, this is a nice outfit for summer. The thin fabric keeps it light and cool, the style is cute, and while there are a few quirks with the fit and finish, it’s still comfortable to wear.
