This style has potential and I LOVEEE a classic, simple, figure hugging black dress - but this just doesn't do it for me. For reference I am 5'2 about 135 lbs and ordered the Medium in black. This was the right size. Small would have been too small and large would have been too big. I have a pretty good shape to my body (smaller waist, observable butt, flat tummy) - but you'd never know it when I put this dress on. Somehow it undoes all of that. I will say I enjoy the mock neck and sleeves, there is something about being covered up top in a form fitting black dress that is so sexy. The bottom is yikes. Usually ruching a snug fit bodycon dress enhance shape and hide flaws, but this somehow takes away from it and magnifies imperfections. It is NOT forgiving. In fact kind of insulting. If you have any sort of hip dip or non flat surface it will magnify it. Heck it would probably show if you had a bandaid on. The ruching can be adjusted along with the length - you can pull it longer to the knees and have almost no ruching, or make it shorter and there will be more ruching. The ruching sits oddly - it all seems to be focused between the bottom of the bust and right above the waist. It doesn't hit where you need it and want to be in order to be flattering. I will say it is comfortable and it doesn't cut into my legs on the bottom. It would also be an easy dress to roll up and pack and travel with. I think it has potential to wear under a longer length cardigan or sweater (that's just not my style). I think you can find better. I love this kind of style when done right, which this is not. This dress is made of nice quality fabric that's very stretchy. If you want it to be truly bodycon, though, you should probably size down. The length is also quite a bit longer than the photos. Read more
