I got this because my husband and I are planning to dress up as pirates for Halloween. The vest will work well for that purpose, but I am probably also going to put it in my regular wardrobe rotation for nights out, because it's actually better quality than I was expecting. It's not high-end fashion quality, but will be functional even as a non-costume piece. Bear in mind, I'm not saying I think this will hold up to extensive wear or repeat washing, but if you are looking for a velvet vest as a wardrobe addition - for whatever reason - this should serve you well. I ordered my usual size and it fit as expected, maybe a little tight around the armholes - but I lift weights, and that probably affects the fit. Read more
