This is a great kit with a large variety of wood filler colors. For the most part, the use of the fillers, beeswax, and putty is straightforward and obvious. However, the included instructions provide basic details of exactly how to use the kit. Still, I recommend that while it is fairly easy to use that you should be prepared for your first few repairs to be a little sloppy and imperfect. You may wish to repair the scuffed up IKEA dresser before you go to Grandma’s antique table. If the basic wood colors don’t match perfectly, there are white and black fillers as part of the kit which allow you to mix in and lighten or darken the other stock colors so that you can achieve a perfect color match. The kit represents a great value including not only the large array of fillers, but also wood putty for deep gouges and wood tone markers for light scratches. It also includes beeswax for finishing and protecting your repairs. This product works well on solid wood, veneers, and laminates. It did improve the appearance of a nicked up wood grain vinyl coating on one of my pieces of furniture - but it really is not suitable for that application - see the photo sequence. Read more

I purchased this wood furniture repair kit to fix a crack in a dresser that happened during a move, and I’m genuinely impressed with the results. The damage was noticeable before, but after using this kit, it blends in so well that you can only tell there was ever an issue if you’re looking very closely. The kit is very comprehensive and includes everything needed for both small touch ups and larger repairs. I used the wood putty to fill the crack, let it dry, and then used the color fillers to match the finish. The color mixing guide was especially helpful, and I appreciated the wide range of shades included. Being able to mix lighter and darker colors made it easy to get a close match to my dresser’s wood tone. The materials were easy to work with, even for someone without much furniture repair experience. The putty applied smoothly, sanded down easily, and accepted color well. I needed a kit that had a wide array of colors to repair several different types and colors of wood. I have several different projects I'm working on including: furniture, cabinets and woodwork. One of the pieces of woodwork that is damaged had a very large chuck broken out of it and I was afraid I'd have to replace the whole 10"' x 12" running along my stairway! I followed the instructions exactly and tackled the biggest project first, which was the stairway. The chunk was about 16" long and in some places more than 2" deep. I filled it with the white putty and waited about a week between filling thick layers. It dried well without bubbling, flaking or cracking. I sanded the final layers until I had the right shape and it's impossible to tell that it isn't the original wood - except for the color. I chose white because it will ultimately be painted white and I was fearful that paint might not stick quite as well to the putty. Just in case, it will be white underneath. I am thrilled with the results! I can't believe how hard this stuff dries and how durable the finished product feels. It's actually harder than the natural wood. It went really far, too. As large as this repair was, I still have plenty of white putty left to make other small repairs using the white putty. The containers are nice for storing your leftovers because the lids seal airtight. You most definitely get your money's worth. I've already saved the value of just this one board for the cost of the kit and I have tons more repairs I plan to make! The color didn't change after drying. I'm not sure if the other colors will change or not. I will update my review as I continue using the kit. This is exciting... I should add, I've never made repairs to wood before in my life. This was all new to me and it was pretty easy. It was time consuming, but not difficult at all. I am looking forward to repairing a lot of edges and corners of things that have chipped and deep scratches in things that I thought were ruined. I think there's a great possibility that with some practice and this kit, I can make them look brand new, or pretty darn close! I ordered this a few months back but, hadn't gotten a chance to put it to the test until this week. The only star removal was for the markers--they aren't very high-pigment so are hard to get a good deep color with and I ended up needing to use a different stain pen I had buried in a drawer to fix a spot on a walnut-toned door and a scuff on my dining table (also walnut tone). I haven't tried the filler out yet but, JUST dinged my kitchen floor yesterday dropping a metal spatula so I'll update after I try fixing that. The beeswax is fantastic. Goes on smooth and absorbs well, the buffing sponges are really helpful, AND there isn't a scent to the wax. My household is sensitive to fragrance so, I was very grateful for there to be no scent in the wax. Read more
