I have a humidity gauge in my living room and I bought one of these and my humidity Improved from about 15-19% to around 25-30%. I bought a 2nd one and with both them on my wood stove I get up to about 35% now. Which is awesome. If I decide I want more I will get a 3rd and that’ll probably get me over 40%, which is where most people start to feel most comfortable (less chapped lips and dry skin or hands). I live in the desert and my humidity is usually sitting around 25-30%. So if yo typically have higher humidity than that you may not need as many as I do. Read more

We did get some rust on the interior of the lid in the first month or so. Buffed lightly with steel wool, seasoned with canola oil as if it was a skillet; no problems since. Sitting on a Blaze King Ashford that heats the house all winter, the water temp is a pretty constant 140 F and evaporates about 100 ounces per day. I don’t have a tool for precise humidity measurement, but that’s 100 more than we had without it. There is usually some condensation on the inside of the lid, so when refilling, lift carefully (and consider gloves or mitt) to avoid dripping onto the stove. Even with that, removing the lid works better than trying to pour through the top. Overall a nice addition to the wood stove experience. Read more

Item sits on a cast iron Blaze King wood stove. Water temperature runs about 160 Fahrenheit and evaporates about one tank per day. Haven’t measured interior humidity but for sure it didn’t go down. Unfortunately, despite completely removing the lid before refilling to ensure no splashes or spills, the inner rim shows considerable rust already. Familiar with seasoning cast iron cookware so might try that, but purchased assuming that wouldn’t be necessary. Read more
