I am very please this this attachment. I was using the small 1/2" belt that came with the MK.2 to grind an initial edge on knife blanks using extra course and course. I would finish the edge using Arkansas stones. The MK.2 works nice but I didn't care for the guide as it does not support the tip and you have to free-hand it, holding the knife edge down and tilted back at the cutting angle. Not to easy to do when you have a curved tip and also required you to rock the knife upward. Just not intuitive or natural. This attachment has a wider belt and it's all free-hand, but it is quite intuitive. Holding the knife at 90' to the grinding surface comes natural. It give a nice even edge along the whole length of the blade. After grinding several knife blanks I decided to try the finer grits and see just how sharp it would get the blades. I did a few utility knives that get heavy use with a medium grit to clean up the cutting angle and then moved to the finer grit. It put a very nice sharp edge on them that rivaled my Arkansas stones. I am duly impressed. If you using the Ken Onion MK.2 I highly recommend this attachment. Worth every penny. Read more

Should have gotten this with my original purchase of the KO Knife sharpener Mk2. I prefer sharpening my knives with this one as well as it opens up your ability to sharpen all sorts of things. Well built and solid all around! Read more

Meh. The alignment was slightly off. I should send it in to be serviced but it still works ok even with the rapid thumping of the band. Read more

This sharpening attachment for the ken onion M2 is worth the extra money. I have discovered steels and how to properly put any edge on a quality knife. I did discover a desire to purchase all new kitchen knives. With the syeel i choose. Important: get only the OEM Hi Ken Onion Machine. Do not buy wanna be’s that offer half the price. I believe this would be a mistake as this is a precision and versatile machine. The tolerances must be tight and one doesn’t get that cheap. I have put edhes on a number of good knives i own and they do indeed slice paper as always shown. One thing. You real need quality steel. I sharpened a lesser steel ( no name Chinese pocket knife. Same identical procedure and it fails all sharpness tests. So good steel and have fun. Its a joy to use after all the years of dull, dull knives. I bought the first machine then purchased the attachment after so i spent wuite a bit more but i dont even consider it. Read more
