Pro: I rarely drink wine unless my partner brings it to share when I'm cooking a special dinner for us that is enhanced with a bit of wine. I purchased this because I needed a bottle stopper for when we have a glass and needed to preserve the bottle for one or two weeks. It works well for red or white wines and I don't need to keep it in the refrigerator, just a cool dark space. I have no need to lay it down on it's side, but I tested it over the sink to see if it would leak for about 5 minutes and it was sealed and dry. Corks are difficult to get back into the bottle, and sometimes impossible for me so this is a great solution and very attractive. This is not for fizzy sodas, bubbly wines or champagne. Use a different type for those. Con: At first, I found it a bit difficult to pull the wing lever down due to arthritis in my fingers, but I managed it by myself after I figured out how much pressure it required so I'm happy to recommend it! If you need to keep wine flat on its side in a wine rack or to stand up in a small refrigerator I would measure it first and ensure that the seal is strong enough for your purpose. We love it!
