This 4x4 all-terrain Land Cruiser crawler is amazing. It handles really well on different surfaces and feels very durable. The controller is easy to use, even for kids, which makes it perfect for the whole family. I also love that it comes with two batteries—huge plus! My husband enjoys it, but my kids love it too, so it’s definitely worth it. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a fun and reliable RC truck. Read more
I'd been looking at the MN82 already so when this popped up, I figured I'd grab it. It uses the original MN frame, rather than the newer frame you'll find in some of the more expensive MN models, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. On paper, it seems like it wouldn't change much, but they actually did a few quality upgrades on this model. The battery life is pretty good, 20-40 minutes when trailing, depending on what you're doing and how fast you're running it. Unlike the old models, the gearing seems to have changed for this model, as the MN82S is actually fast enough so you can just walk at a normal speed when trailing. MAJOR bonus in my book. On the trail, the thing seems durable enough for scale use, but I did have a first here: one of the accessories broke when I was putting it together. This is easy enough to fix, but it might take a bit of fun if you break it the second they get it. Might just be luck of the draw, but I'd say use snips if you're not sure if you can get the piece off of the plastic holder without breaking it. Unusually brittle. Standard functionality, no special features like winch control, but it does have blinkers and lights you can turn on/off. Two batteries is a nice bonus. All in all, great addition to my collection. Would be fun for younger children and teens as long as they understand that this is more of a scale truck; it will not last long if you're bashing it. It's more of a chill truck, but that's perfect for me. Literally only marked down because of the one piece that broke (I've had a lot of these and never had that issue, so maybe a QC problem?). Still would recommend though. Read more
Though not fully "hobby grade" out of the box, the MN82S is big value for money. The stock platform is capable, durable and big on fun. They are a great basis for full on upgrades which puts them solidly in "hobby grade" for less than 1/2 the cost of a high end, big brand rock crawler. Read more
Great for out the box batteries last long and take about 6 hours each to charge Read more
Despite the product title, if you accept that this is definitely NOT a rock crawler, and accept it for what it is, there is a lot to like here. As a scale model and/or trail truck, this RC is really quite good. As a rock crawler, there are many better options. This RC’s strong points are its highly detailed hard plastic body. The plastics are good quality, durable, and will hold up to child’s play. There are a ton of scale details and lots of parts to be assembled like a scale model. Plan to take some time to enjoy the final assembly and customization of this truck. The light kit is really good, with headlights, brake lights, taillights, reverse, and turn signals. The 2 included batteries offer good runtime. The controller is fine for smaller hands, but the handle comes out at an odd angle. The motor/ESC emits the typical PWM noises common to inexpensive brushed power systems and is annoyingly loud, but it offers surprisingly decent low-speed throttle control. It’s not particularly torquey, but is fast enough for a normal trail walking pace. The steering is adequate but not especially tight. It has trim adjustment but no Dual Rate. It’s not quite hobby grade, although there are a lot of hop-up parts available for it. I consider this a good toy-grade RC, appropriate for kids, as a good entry-level RC, and an introduction to the hobby. IMO, it’s a great-looking model that offers good value for money, just don’t expect it to be a good performer on the rocks. Read more
The MN82S has been a pleasant surprise and delivers an impressive mix of scale detail, trail performance, and overall fun. The Land Cruiser styling looks great in person with working headlights, an opening hood, and a detailed rear canopy that can be removed or opened for different looks. It feels like a true hobby grade starter truck rather than a toy, which is rare in this price range. I tested it on dirt, loose gravel, and a small rock garden. The 4WD drivetrain and 280 motor give it enough torque for moderate crawling, and the proportional steering and throttle make it easy to place the truck exactly where you want it. The two speed throttle setting is a nice touch because it lets you switch between slow technical driving and quicker trail cruising without fuss. The suspension setup is interesting with a front four link and rear leaf springs. It gives the truck a scale feel with good articulation up front and a more realistic ride in the rear. It is not a hardcore crawler suspension, but it handles uneven terrain well and looks right for the platform. The included two batteries extend run time which is always welcome, and the waterproof electronics add confidence when driving through puddles or wet grass. The only thing to keep in mind is that while the truck performs well for casual use, it is not built for extreme crawling. It shines the most as a scale trail truck where the combination of looks and control really come together. Overall this is a solid value for anyone who wants a realistic and capable RC truck with good performance right out of the box. It is especially appealing if you enjoy scale details and want something fun for light to moderate off road driving. Read more
