My son went through two sets of Walmart wrist guards in under a year. Each one snapped, leaving jagged edges, and he didn't even put that much pressure on them. These are: a) more comfortable, b) watch friendly, and c) most importantly, stronger. For an active 9-year old, these have been worth every penny to avoid a trip to the emergency room for either road rash or a fractured wrist.
