My February 2025 order of ‘Yamashiro Bussan Organic Roasted Tea Bag 0.1 oz (2.5 g) x 25 Bags’ arrived in a sealed plastic pouch with a reusable zip-lock closure. Inside the pouch are 25 tetra (pyramid-ish) tea bags without strings. Most of the pouch text is in Japanese, but a translation app on your phone can help you with that. This organic roasted green tea is Made in Japan, and my pouch has an Expiration Date of December 22 2025. Some of the text from the pouch (translated): “Tea of Earth and Water” is an “organic green tea series” that is grown without relying on chemical fertilizers and whose nutrients are nurtured slowly over time from natural soil and water. Organic tea leaves are grown in the sunlight for a long time are roasted to reduce bitterness and astringency, resulting in a fragrant flavor. The text also explains that the tea is from the Kyoto Prefecture. The brewing instructions basically state to steep until desired strength, and the label shows that this tea can be brewed hot or cold. As far as the tea itself, opening the pouch reveals a strong aroma of green tea, and brewed hot the tea has a rich roasted taste with no bitterness at all. I enjoyed drinking this tea hot with no additives, but I think it is strong enough that you could add your favorites and still have a great tea. Definitely a high quality tea. Read more

I wanted to enjoy some good green tea, and this particular roasted tea caught my attention. After brewing a cup hot, the wonderful aroma filled the air and I was excited to take a sip. It has a deep, rich flavor that's completely smooth, with no bitterness. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it tasted without any sweeteners or additives—just straight tea. I think the roasting process really does make a difference. It’s easy to brew, whether with hot or cold water, which is convenient if I'm on the go. On the flip side, I noticed that the packaging is mostly in Japanese, which means I had to pull out a translation app to understand some details. It would be nice to have more information readily available in English on the bag itself. But honestly, the quality and taste of the tea totally outweigh that minor inconvenience. Pros: - Rich flavor with no bitterness - Convenient brewing options both hot and cold - Smooth taste, enjoyable without additives Cons: - Limited English information on packaging - Brewing instructions could be clearer Read more

This is an unusual green tea. It has a good flavor for the most part, it is just different than what I was expecting. It still has the smooth subtle taste of green tea, but the dominant flavor is that of brown rice which to me tastes very similar to a rice cake. Again, it has a pretty good flavor, it is just unusual. The tea is very smooth and naturally slightly sweet. It paired well with honey and was good alone. It brews easily, just like any other green tea I have tried. The biggest complaint I had with this tea is that other than its name and a few other random tidbits of information the entire bag is in Japanese, so I was unsure if there are any special brewing instructions or what is in the tea other than the name, which says it in brown rice and green tea. Overall unique smooth tea. Read more

My first drink of this tea make me think - umami. It has a really good flavor. It is not a strong tea. I get almost no astringency from it. It seems fresh - no stale or old flavors or smells. The tea bags do not have a string, which I find is neither a plus or a minus. The bag is resealable. The best by date on mine is a little less than a year after I received it. Read more

I don't drink as much tea as I used too, but when I drink green tea, I want it to taste good. This tea comes well packaged in a zip top bag. When I opened it up and took a smell, I was instantly excited to try this. The pyramid shaped bags have plenty of head room to allow for infusion, but lack a string. I brewed a cup, trying it at various levels of strength. Just like most green teas, the longer you steep it the stronger it is, but the more bitterness you impart. Time it to find your sweet spot. I'm one of those that actually enjoys letting them go a little longer to bring out those added flavors. This experience makes me want to start drinking tea again on the regular. Just knowing this is true Japanese green makes it feel special. Read more

The tea bags come in a stylish container, and the tea bags are triangular shaped with no strings. To my surprise, the tea bags was super green, like matcha - which was a bit surprising because usually they look like it's filled with brown nuggets. And to match that, it did taste like genmaicha but it reminded me of more of sencha. I thought it was a delicious sencha, a very mild, sweet and not as grassy - which is exactly how I like sencha (and I find that in more expensive teas) but it didn't give me a strong burnt rice flavor or I call it osenbei flavor that makes it unique. I guess the genmaichas I had have an intense roasted rice flavor so Id' say this feels a little mild. Nonetheless, the green tea is DELICIOUS! Read more

The tea bag sachets seem to be made of plant fiber and are stringless as pictured. Most of the labeling is in Japanese text, but the brewing instructions are pretty typical. The prepared tea is okay, but it has some nuance that doesn't fit my preferences. So this doesn't land as a favorite for this type of tea for me, but other people may love it. Read more

I ordered and received the Yamashiro Bussan Organic Roasted Tea Bags, 25 count. The tea bags come in a zipper resealable bag. I love that the tea is organic and that the tea bags are made from a sustainable material that is meant to break down into water and carbon dioxide. To make one cup of this tea I like to boil fresh water, pour it into my mug, let it stand for one minute to cool the temperature slightly, then brew the tea bag for about 3 minutes. The tea is delicious! I do not add anything to this tea, though you could enjoy it with the usual condiments if that is your preference. Read more
