I ordered this ‘YEELIGHT Cube Lite Smart Lamp’ to hopefully use as a lighted message board. I thought I would be able to program my own wording on this sign, but I cannot. All I can do is choose from a bunch of preloaded low-resolution images to display on the screen. Very disappointing. It’s too bad because this ‘YEELIGHT Cube Lite Smart Lamp’ is very nicely made. It’s solid feeling…not cheap plastic. And the display is nice and big and bright. Setting up this ‘YEELIGHT Cube Lite Smart Lamp’ was relatively easy. The required app is a little confusing to use…a lot of bad grammar in the instructions…but it did find my lamp easily and connected to it pretty quickly. I am very disappointed that this ‘YEELIGHT Cube Lite Smart Lamp’ doesn’t do more. It’s obviously geared more to kids given they juvenile graphics is displays. I obtained this smart light bar to use in my office with the intention of having it be my primary clock in the room. The light bar itself is lightweight, but still feels well built. The LEDs are colorful and bright. Overall design is very minimalist with only two physical buttons. Configuring the smart light bar is the weakest part of this product. It requires you to pair it with the Yeelight app on your smartphone; it cannot be done without this step. Connecting my device to the Yeelight app took a few attempts, namely because the device requires a 2.4 Ghz connection, and I have a dual band (2.4 and 5 Ghz) connection. Other devices I've connected were able to pull the 2.4 Ghz connection, but for this smart light bar, I had to specifically isolate 2.4 Ghz for the device to pair successfully. Once paired, clock functionality is very basic, which was disappointing for me. While you can choose (or create) fun light effects and have it sync to music, that functionality all goes away if you put it in clock mode. With clock mode, you just get to choose preset "theme styles". Most of the themes are just different colors for the time, with only a handful offering basic effects, like changing colors. Other available options are whether it rotates between time and date, and if the colon on the time blinks. Overall, It's a decent small light bar if your main goal is to add a little flair to your room with lighting effects, but if you're thinking of using it as a cool clock, just know it's very basic. There's a few things that I really like about this led light display. Setup and pairing was super easy with the barcode and app. It's very customizable with both preset designs in the app and through the online community, or you can create your own. Powering the device happens throb the included usb-c cable. I'd like to see this in a larger, longer design, so you can place longer text on the display or scroll it. Read more
Not entirely sure how I feel about this one, but overall it's not good. It asks for a credit card for a free app during setup - that's a red flag. The app doesn't really feel like you can do much but choose from premade designs they allow you to use, not make your own (at least, not that I can find) and all the marketing materials make it look like it's able to sync up with other lighting and do this cool stuff but it's kind of just a brick right now. This product has pre-programmed audio-responsive modes. They don't make a lot of sense to me, but they are there. A simple bars display would be nice but it does not appear to exist. The build quality is nice. The LEDs are colorful and not overly bright. In order to use the Yeelight app, I was asked to create a free account. When I attempted to do so, I was greeted with a screen asking for my credit card information. That is where my use of this device ended. Read more
The colors are nice, the brightness is middling, and the separation is great. The problem is it doesn't really DO anything with it. Making animated items in the creator app seems to be obtuse enough that I can't find it, there's no scrolling text option that I can see, and if you use the Matter enabled system to sync up with Alexa, there's no animated backgrounds at all, as the alexa/matter integration just sees it as a light source with color settings. Solid color settings. No gradients. As a cute little desk ornament, I guess it could be interesting. But the app is such a mess and the capabilities are so extremely limited at the moment that it's kind of pointless until such a time as those things are upgraded. Read more
