NOT polarized. NO lens coating (will NOT block UV to protect eyes).

Mike TwainNovember 8, 2022

These cheap sunglasses are NOT polarized and do NOT have UV-blocking coating on the plastic lenses. It's easy to check polarized lenses. Hold one pair of sunglasses in front of another pair from this package (or one pair of these and one pair that you know ARE polarized). Polarized lenses "polarize" the light that passes through them, sort of like a set of blinds that only let parallel strips of light through. If you line up two polarized lenses so that the "blinds" run in the same direction, the same amount of light that passes through the first lens will pass through the second lens, so looking through the two lenses will be no darker than looking through one lens. But as you rotate ONE lens 90 degrees (relative to the other lens), it should get progressively darker if both lenses are polarized. At 90 degrees, looking through both lenses will appear totally black/opaque, if BOTH lenses are polarized. With these cheapo sunglasses, that doesn't happen. They are NOT polarized. Also, UV coating should be visible on plastic lenses, especially at the edges. These are NOT coated lenses, they will NOT block harmful UV sunlight. In short, if you want polarized, UV-blocking sunglasses, keep looking. I'm returning these. Read more
