Disclaimer: My wife and I are both medievalists, historical reenactors, and we make these things. She does clothing and I do leather. We've both been doing this for a few decades. We spent an hour and more going over this when it arrived. This is our consensus of the kit. I'm reviewing the black one, because black goes with everything. We're giving it a five star review, with comments. TLDR: Good construction, good quality materials, functional, but not truly historical. A good quality purchase for the price. It should last years with care and depending on use. I have no problem recommending this to someone as starter gear. This is made in China, and took a while to arrive, but it came without any problem. The material quality is good. So is the construction. We have no problems with any of that. I'll summarize our overall comments and piece by piece. We didn't expect it to be craftsman quality, and it isn't. It's good for someone new, or who doesn't have a lot of money to buy hand-made goods at events where people sell them. The wreath is meant for females, but the rest can be worn by anyone. First off, it won't pass historical gear checks. It will work fine and look good for any costume, Renne Faire, SCA, medieval LARPing event, or just using pieces of it for whenever you want to wear it. The crown is artificial flowers and if you keep it bagged when not in use, it could last years. It looks good around a the crown of straw hat. My wife tried it. Depending on your head size, don't expect it to go all the way around your head. The belt looks good, feels like it will last even with regular wearing. It's not top quality leather, but good quality from what I could see and feel. The two rings were not used historically. They used buckles that look a lot like we wear today. A western style belt would look fine in the 15 and 1600's. It's too small for me, but not my wife. I didn't expect it to fit me. Once you learn the knot, which takes a literal minute, it's comfortable and adjustable. I've made some belts that look like it. The two ring belt hanger is interesting. I think it's meant for a tankard, but the ad shows daggers. You could drop one though the rings to carry one, or if the scabbard had a loop. The rings open, so they can fit around a fixed loop on some item. The brass colored rings open and are stiff, but that will loosen over time. They're a bit larger than I would use, but I don't hang a beer tankard off my belt. If the tankard has a close loop handle, the openable rings are perfect for it. Good workmanship, but it is a simple thing to make. The small stretchable coin pouch is the one we had the greatest problems with. The embossed leather flap has a nice design, a belt loop sized for the belt and is machine stitched onto the fabric. The elastic that holds it closed could be a bit longer or, since it's just tied, easily replaced with something else. The rat tail cord that is the drawstring for the pouch is too long. Way too long. However, it could be shortened and replace the elastic loop. The cord should be shortened by the buyer to their preferred length for use. It is always better too long than too short. The big pouch looks good with all the brass rivets. It's made from five separate pieces. I would make it with three, but this design works. It's large enough to fit a large phone, wallet, and other things you want to put into it. It doesn't stretch like the coin purse. It feels stiff because of the construction of the pouch and the thickness of the leather. It should soften slightly after use. The belt loop on the back is too low and sewn too tight to the pouch. That is the worst thing about it. It also should be higher. The belt will fit through the loop, but only with an empty bag. The construction isn't historical, but it looks good. It will pass in any of the groups I've mentioned. I could stuff all the pieces of the set into it except the coin pouch and flower crown. Read more
