Durable, sturdy, great size for kindergartener, adorable
Firstly let me say I am impressed with the yodo brand in general. Most things made for children is terrible quality but we parents buy it anyway because our kids want the adorable picture or whatever is on the crap product, I bought the lunchbox from this brand about two years ago and it still looks brand new. I just got the backpack in the mail today and normally would not review a product so soon without testing durability, however it looks to be the same amazing quality as the lunchbox so I am going to go ahead and review it and will update after the school year. Firstly the material is great, it is durable and tough I do not know what the material is exactly but I would guess canvas or Oxford. The main thing is that it is not that polyester crap most backpacks are made of that does not last very long or a hold up to where in tear this is tough. The stitching is amazing and seems are all re-enforced which I rarely see on kids backpacks. There is one main compartment pocket and a smaller zippered inside pocket as well as a front pocket that Velcro‘s shut. The zipper pulls on the main compartment pocket are very nice quality, The zipper pole on the inside small pocket is not as nice but that pocket will probably not be used as much so it’s fine. The zipper on the main pocket is a very good quality zipper again the one on the inside pocket is not as nice just like the pole but that is fine it is probably not going to have as much use. The straps are lightly padded not amazing but not terrible as far as padding goes, however the padding in the back of the backpack is very generous so nothing in the backpack will be able to poke my daughter in her back. The inner liner of the backpack does appear to be that sort of cheap polyester crap that most backpacks are made of but it is just the liner and a lot of kids backpacks have an even cheaper liner than that so I am happy with it. The backpack is sized just right for my kindergartener. Meaning it is big enough to hold all her things without being so bulky it looks like it’s wearing her. We have tried putting items in the backpack to make sure everything would fit, folder notebook extra clothing extra shoes, and yodo Lunchbag. Everything fit. The handle at the top of the bag which we hang from a hook looks sturdy like it will not rip easily that is usually the first thing to rip free from the backpacks we shall see how this one goes but it looks sturdy. My only negative about the backpack is that the nut pockets on the side for the water bottles are sewn flat to the bag, if I were to do something different about it I would extend the pocket out past the bag a little more so a water bottle will fit better in it. As it is now the water bottles do fit, it’s just a little bit awkward on the bottom, still workable though so it does not lose any stars in my book. My daughter absolutely loves the look of this backpack, she was so excited about it and I think besides the adorable Ness in general her favorite part was that the mouth opens up and is a pocket. Even the googly eyes are sewn on and look super sturdy and well put on. This backpack does not look cheap in anyway but if something were a lower quality on it I would say it is the unicorn horn. It is not bad quality just a little cheaper material than the rest of the backpack but it is decoration and does not serve any function other than looks so I do not have a problem with this. Also it is advertised as having a name tag I don’t know if I missed it but I did not receive a name tag with this backpack unless it is cardboard but that is not really a problem for me as I just put a luggage tag on it anyway. As I said before I will update after use but it looks like the same quality as the lunchbag and my daughter has not been nice to that it has lasted two years and still looks brand new. I am so thankful to find this company because I am sick of buying crap just for the cute picture that my kids want. My kids are thankful to because they want the cute pictures and don’t want the good quality stuff if it doesn’t have a fun theme. I wish there was a bigger backpack option for my third grade son who really wants the shark however it would be too small for him I think. It might work for him as he is small for his age I just don’t know if it would fit all the things he needs as third grade has more involved in schooling than kindergarten.
