What I like the most about this video is that Robin Downes gives such good verbal instruction that you don't have to watch the video while doing the asanas (exercises). Her soothing voice and the soft cool jazz background music gives the dvd a cool and relaxing vibe. Very thorough and easy yoga class that includes breathing. The celebrity endorsements certainly didn't hurt! Read more

I really like this dvd for its feeling and completeness. I think this is wonderful for beginners to hatha yoga. This is a follow-a-long yoga class where as you progress, Robin Downes explains each classic yoga movement and the breathing that goes with it. She continually emphazized that each person is individual and to do only what you can. Be patient. There is soothing, cool jazz music in the background and the studio is warm and inviting. Along with Robin, there are students demonstrating the yoga positions. Most of the yoga movements are done on the floor with a mat as cushion. The dvd has a great menu with the yoga movements separate so you can study them individually. The class starts with breathing and ends with meditation just as any good yoga class should. The dvd is introduced by John Salley and also includes an interview with Russell Simmons is included. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS DVD. Read more

My son just bought me this and I'm having a good time of it so far. I used to think to do yoga meant you had to chant now I know that it's a great way to excercise and stay relaxed. It's not too hard on my joints either. I like it. Read more

I bought this video because it said "Relaxation" and it delivers. I've done it at least once a week and usually twice a week for 4 months. I am 57 and my yoga buddy is 25 years younger but we both love it. We are white northern Canadians and didn't know what "flava" was but the DVD has 70 minutes of stretches and moves and guided meditation that consistently "work". I've been looking for a volume two. The Rebecca ReviewβJuly 16, 2006
Robin Downe demystifies yoga for beginners and presents a warm comforting relaxation practice with caring instruction and beautiful music. Robin practices with two actresses, a magazine editor and a student of three years. The initial breathing session is slightly extended so you can relax fully into the routine. Then Robin's pleasant voice leads you through a series of postures that are held for enough time to make them effective. I love the slower pacing and the detailed cueing she gives to make sure you are doing the postures perfectly. I have rarely felt so taken care of while doing yoga. It was truly comforting. Breathing, balancing, focusing and toning are the themes within a very emotionally satisfying guided practice. The relaxation session at the end is perfect as is the mini-meditation section. Toe stretches and lots of arm and neck stretches are also included. Downward dog, mountain pose and a few other basic poses are taught. A beyond excellent start for beginners and a relaxing escape for intermediate students. After doing this workout I truly look forward to continuing the Yoga Flava series. This may be one of the most relaxing yoga DVDs on the market. Robin's beautiful spirit makes the practice very healing and I love her teaching style. ~The Rebecca Review Read more

I was not sure how I would like this DVD because I thought it would infuse hip hop and distract me from the connection that I receive from practicing yoga. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised. I was able to push my practice to a higher level, which is to incorporate it in all aspects of my life. I recommend it for beginners and the experienced. Read more
