Presents yoga's true purpose--to realize your inner self

suzanneJune 3, 2002

Finally, I've found a video that is truly "yoga" and not just an "exercise" video. This video was very helpful for me to discovering what the true purpose of the yoga poses are. I liked the affirmations the Ananda Yoga presents along with the poses, I found they strengthened me on an inner level. The explanations of the chakras and their purpose is fascinating, allowing each one of us to explore deeper aspects of ourselves that we ordinarily would miss in most of the yoga poses you see on videos that exist today. Wonderful, Refreshing Yoga Practice.

YogaKat 🧘‍♀️🙏 💕April 3, 2004✓ Verified purchase

This practice and the DVD entitled Yoga to awaken the Chakras are wonderful. Ananda Yoga uses affirmations during the yoga practice. It is very meditative and refreshing. You work on individual chakras thru yoga postures, breathing techniques, and positive thoughts. Yoga for Busy People is broken into 3-20 segments and you can do them individually or all together. Each segment ends with a visual-yoga nidra type of relaxation. Yoga to Awaken the Chakras goes thru each of the seven chakras again thru postures, breathing, techniques, and positive affermations. If you have not tried Ananda Yoga yet, I would recommend starting with Yoga for Busy People. If you like it, try Yoga to Awaken the Chakras. I use both and alternate with my other Kundalini Yoga, Hatha Yoga, and Tai Chi personal practice. Also, see my other reviews on Amazon for Yoga and Mediation. Namaste' Read more

Worst yoga video ever

CustomerAugust 18, 2006

This is not like most yoga videos - it is not about yoga practice, at least not in the same way. It's more a meditation. It should be called that. I was expecting a program that would wake me up, not send me to sleep! Read more

It does what it says- awakens the chakras

For those who want a workout video,or want to learn to become contortionists, this is not it. For those who want to use their bodies as a vehicle to higher awareness, this is a good way to begin. Yoga is the connecting of body, mind and spirit. To do that we must be able to listen with our bodies as well as with our ears. This video offers an excellant vehicle to do that as well as a good beginning approach to yoga. For those who want a bridge between Hatha Yoga and meditation, this video provides that.I find that the vast majority of yoga videos have very long leaders into the body of the work. It is interesting the first time, but after that one has to fast forward through it all. This is no exception. Read more
