Four weeks ago, YSL Libre for Women wasn't even on my radar. Nor, really, were any other "designer" fragrances. So long story short, I headed into Macy's, determined to find a grown-up fragrance. The nice lady there helped me select a perfectly lovely fragrance. It was nice. Did it make me go, "Whoa! Step back, Betty, I've gotta have it!"? Well, no. But it was nice. But the Libre sample spray she tucked into my bag? Whole new ball game. After the first spray, I was in love with it. It was light, it was fresh, it had a presence, and it didn't make me want to gag. All good things. I immediately forgot all about the nice fragrance because I just had to have a full-size bottle, hence this purchase. And here's where the Libre rabbit hole happens. Did you know there is more than one iteration of this fragrance? I sure didn't and I jumped right in and bought the first version that flirted with me. And then, being who I am, while waiting for my delivery, I started watching YouTube fragrance videos and reading reviews to validate my choice. This was a mistake. They claimed that Libre (original) was really good, but the Libre Intense was GREAT. And if you like the original and the Intense, surely you might want something a little different, so try the Libre Vanille Couture. And Le Parfum? Amazing! And then maybe when you rush to your keyboard to order the Intense from Macy's, they might add an adorably small bottle of Libre Flowers and Flames as a free gift with purchase. I thought I'd finally seen it all when, on my way to write this review, I spotted another one. I forced myself to look away. Before you fall down this rabbit hole, I have some advice: Unless you have a small fortune to spend, try out all the versions before you settle on the one you know is perfect for you. Overall, it's a great line and I'm so happy I found it. You really can't go wrong. Two for One Review: I really, REALLY love this original version. It's exactly what I was looking for and it got my attention. But the Intense version edges it out just a little (in my opinion - your mileage may vary). It's somehow smoother when you spray it on, like it blends perfectly as it's coming out of the bottle (if that makes sense) - and it lingers nicely. The jury is still out on the Vanille Couture (great bottle, though). So, buy the travel sizes, get samples, spray it in a store (make sure you try it on your skin, not on a testing strip, wait for the dry down) and I think you will find the scent that speaks to you.
