Great for the price, My garage has some windows that are quite high so an window unit didn't seem like a good fit. My sons room sits above it and when the garage gets hot, my sons room is like a melting pot. We needed something to cool the garage a bit so we can lower the ac in the whole house and this was perfect. It easily keeps the 2 car garage at 80 degrees and his room feels much much better, since the unit comes with a remote, we don't have to walk all the way over to turn it on. Quality feels average, super easy to install and very quite. Fits nicely in our garage, but would pair well with nice home decor. Very happy with this unit, 5 stars! Read more

The media could not be loaded. Included a short video to show that this is the quietest portable A/C I've used. I have it setup on a table so it's roughly as high as the window for easier exhaust and draining into a 5-gallon bucket that I manually empty to water my indoor plants as necessary... Only just hooked it up, but I'm very impressed so far - it pumps out cold air and does so without excessive fan or compressor noise. I also very much like the window kit - it's more sturdy with a central ridge and easy to setup with a simple wingnut T-bar and channel system. The other 2 units I own, a GE unit from ~4 years ago which requires a screw from outside and a Black and Decker unit from last year that uses plastic pegs at preset intervals - both of which are in the same price/size category as this Zafro unit. Good easy access to the filter as well for easy cleaning. Time will tell how it stands up when it runs for hours at a time as summer progresses, but based on initial install and running for ~20 minutes, I would not hesitate to buy another when the need arises. Will update if any issues pop up. An easy 5* when comparing to my other units, this portable A/C receives my whole hearted recommendation. Obviously mine arrived without issue and was packaged well - larger and heavier items can often be roughed up in shipping. Read more

First of all it's loud so when we watch TV we have turn the volume up. Second the window is misleading because the measurements are wrong because we had to trim the plastic to fit the window. It seems to work but the remote temp setting doesn't sync with the unit when setting and would be nice if told you the current temperature when running. And last the manual doesn't tell you about the two drain plugs and how to use both of them, it only mentions buying a smaller hose to stick in the top one for continuous draining. So what is the other for then???? Read more

I'm really impressed with this ac so far! It looks and feels very well made! It was easy to install in the window and power up. I haven't gotten to go through all the little features yet but so far I'm really happy with it! It started blowing cold air only a few seconds after starting it up. It cooled the room down fairly quickly as well and it's a large open room that I have it in. So far I'm really pleased with this! Read more

Other than storms and electrical outages, I wanted this for my husband to use in his office during the hottest part of the summer. The cooling is rated at approx 400 sq feet. We keep the house about 74-75 and have a large home and 3 central air units. This compact unit allows him to make his office into an oasis where he can have the room at 68 degrees or cooler. The fan has pretty good air flow based on the size of room it is rated to cool. The cool air from this indoor a/c unit feels really nice. Side note - the unit does turn off completely when it reaches the desired temperature. Then comes back on when the temperature in the room rises more than 1 degree. Some of the pieces to vent the hot air are included with the unit but the insert does not allow for the lip that is on every vinyl window that I could find, looking at my windows, friends homes and family members homes. We had to add a 1” piece of wood the length of the insert. This brought the insert up high enough that the window did not hit the underside of the flange. In our house, this took about 5 minutes since my husband is a carpenter…it may not be as easy for others. The air gets very cool quickly. Using an infrared thermometer, the cooling coils measured from 24 degrees F to 45 degrees when the cooling temperature was set to 70 degrees F. It is best to place this along a wall to keep the vent hose from being out in the room and causing a trip hazard. I have deducted one star for the lack of proper support for the window vent. Looking at different family and friends vinyl windows, theirs would have had the same issue at install. I feel that this is a very important part that should be re-engineered. Without the extra support we added, the lower flange of the window would be pressing directly on the underside of the flange - instead of the long rectangular support taking the weight, the narrow lip of the window would press only on the underside flange. In my opinion, this would drastically decrease the longevity of this part. Once compromised, it would allow heat, dirt and or bugs into my home. Update : It has reached or almost reached the 100 degree mark several days here in the plains states. It’s late May and we have realized keeping the hose connected when we are not running this unit is not energy efficient. Heat is drawn into the house in reverse - coming through the hose then through vents of the small A/C unit. We are now searching for a way to close the round opening that connects to the tubing….that would keep the window pieces in place. This will be easier than what we are currently doing - which is removing the whole thing from the window when not in use. We still like having this bonus A/C unit, it’s just proven less convenient than we realized when I chose it. 100 degree days are just part of the deal where we live in June, July and August. I’m glad we are getting things sorted out now. Read more
