This is a good product and there are some bad reviews I'd like to address. Some people have complained of some rust. I had my last one for about 10 years and it did get a small amount of rust, but if it bothers you sand the rust off once a year and dab a little paint on it. When you have something made of metal getting wet in a shower, duh, there is a chance it will rust some. If they made the rods out of plastic it wouldn't rust but it wouldn't be as strong and people would be complaining about that. If they made it out of stainless steel it would be too expensive and people would complain about that. I've also seen complaints about it not fitting a certain size. You can make this fit smaller sizes than the maximum stated size. Mine is 49" tall. All you have to do is cut the rods down to a smaller size and put them together the same way you would if you were using it full size. It came with 4 shelves, I only needed 3 so I've got the other 1 set aside in case 1 breaks. Some people have complained that they have to use a hacksaw to cut the rods to make it fit their particular size. Come on people, this thing costs 18 bucks. How do you expect it fit every size out of the box? That's not possible. I've seen a few complaints about the shelves not staying in place. I simply have not had that problem and I think those people are installing them wrong. If the rod is clean and dry when you put the shelves on they will stay in place. If you put them on top of a soapy, slippery rod they will slide out of place. This is a good product at a reasonable price and if you take your time and install it correctly it should work just fine. And even if you have to replace it every couple years, it's 18 bucks. Come on. Read more

This is a cheap shower caddy, make no mistake about that. But it does the job, and I think you'll find that it lasts for years. I have one in my home that I've had for over 12 years. That one needs replacing, but it's still working fine. It's a bit rusty at the joints, and the shelves don't stay up so well, but it needs replacing because I want my bathroom to look nicer, and not because it's not working. This recent purchase was for camp. They have improved the means of keeping the shelves up, and I think this will work a lot better than my old one. Before, there were thin rubber rings to hold the shelves up. Now, there are solid nylon almost-rings (with a slit, so they're easier to position). The rubber band things have lost their mettle with time, but I don't think that will happen with the new system. The pole here comes in pieces, with a tapered end that fits into another pole. This is where the rust hits. There are plastic labels you can put around the joints to prevent the rust, but I never bothered on my old one, so I can't comment on that. Also, you could position the shelves to hide the seams if you wanted to. The main poles are about 1" in diameter. Then at the top, there's a spring inside the uppermost 1" pole, a cap with a hole on it that fits over that, and then a 1/2" pole that feeds inside the larger pole. The spring provides the tension. The first thing to go on my old one was the cap with the hole in it, which means that my pole at home is not as stable as it once was, though again, it still functions well. The next thing to go was the cap at the very bottom... the pole just poked right through it. But again, it still works. So to my mind, the most fallible parts of this are the plastic and rubber... and they remedied the rubber rings problem on mine. There is one extra pole in the set, if you're doing a tub installation. You use either the 16" pole or the 22" pole (I am guessing a little on lengths here). If you do a shower installation, you can use all the poles. If you need a little variance, you can cut a pole to length (if you have an appropriate saw). And if you need a lot of extra length, you can buy extra 16" poles from the manufacturer ($6 each). I think this tub is normal, and I omitted the 16" pole. (On first pass, I tried omitting the longer pole, but I had guessed wrong, and had to swap poles.) Pros: 1. Affordable 2. Attractive enough 3. Durable, depending on your pickiness about the aesthetics 4. You can take it apart and put it back together again, e.g., if you're moving. 5. I find the instructions fine, and there is a toll-free number to call for help or problems. Cons: 1. Seams are likely to rust, but just at the edges. I believe this will happen in the first year. Again, you can position the shelves over the seams to hide this if you want, or tape over, etc. 2. Plastic caps are likely to break, but to some extent, they are cosmetic. 3. I have marked the ceiling of my home with mine... possibly because I put it up too soon after a paint job. I was thinking that it was time that I shelled out for a high-end version of this for my bathroom at home, but since I expect to move in the next few years, and I am pleased with this purchase, I think I will get a new one of these (cheap) instead. I got this pole caddy to add some shelves in our shower stall. Overall the pole caddy is nice, has ample shelf space, customizable height, it's sturdy (if set up correctly) and looks good. The shipping and set-up instructions are decent. You have to read over the instructions once as it is not completely clear how to get the thing set up (I had to try twice). The parts all work together well. My only quibble with this unit is the actual process of installing the pole in to the bathtub. You have to physically push the pole down on to a spring to make it smaller, then once it is in position, let the pole up so that the force of the spring presses the pole against the ceiling. Let me say that this takes a lot of strength. I lift weights and work out and I had a hard time doing this, so remember to call a local Mr. Universe bodybuilding champ winner the day you install this thing. Once installed, it works wonderfully. I've had it for some time now, it hasn't torqued, buckled, moved or anything. The shelves are all still in place. I would get it again. Read more

I needed a replacement for shower basket system I purchased that were individual, metal baskets that had large suction cups to attach to shower walls. The suction cups didn't work very well after time, so I started to investigate these types of units. I initially was looking on Bed, Bath, and Beyond, as I had a coupon, but the reviews I read of what they had were not very pleasing. I eventually made it to Amazon.com and started reading reviews, and out of all the models, this basic unit got top reviews. I could get two for the price of a fancy model with less stars-have two daughters, and each needs one for all of their stuff. Arrived in time promised, and very easy to assemble. Even came with a spare part or two (little parts) just incase, which I thought was great, because usually it's the opposite. They work great, very stable, and are doing the job, without a huge financial investment. We have a primarily white bathroom scheme, so they fit in just fine, but I bet you could paint them with the Rustoleum paints for metals and outdoor plastic items. Read more
