Game changer for my tiny camper

Trawick EllisJuly 4, 2025

Works well for my application. I have a 5x8 square drop camper and it keeps it nicely cool. It understandably takes a little while to ramp up and cool off inside initially, due to it being 95°+ at times. The remote has shown as low as 52° air coming out of the ac duct when it’s initially trying to cool off the room. I wouldn’t expect the same kind of results from a drafty or uninsulated tent, but I think in that application, it’s going to be best suited to use the duct and direct the cold air right onto you to get the max cooling effect. Insufficient and misleadingly advertised

JJJune 20, 2025

Setup: Used in a 77.35 sqft tent, the Snowpeak Alpha Breeze, in a forest with one side only having a single layer of trees other 3 sides with trees as far as the eye can see. A tarp is overhead to block the sun and the rain fly is on with an air gap. The unit is positioned inside of the rain fly for protection and space savings with one tube going out of it to vent heat outside and two into the inner tent to cool and intake. I have a single battery attached. Pros: Reasonably lightweight and compact. It arrived. Cons: Not enough cooling. After a few hours it settles at about 5 degrees F cooler than ambient on cooling mode if that, 9 with rocket mode. I'm typing this in rocket mode at 82 degrees in my tent which is doable but this thing will be nearly useless when it is 100F out. Insufficient solar input. It only allows 10 amps. Even their overpriced panel setup won't reliably meet the demands of this unit. 2 in series gets you 48 volts, any more would be unsafe, times 10 amps no matter how many you have in parallel. They seem to advertise 3 in series but that exceeds the specs in their manual so which is it? Can only accept one cable at a time and the port is extremely stiff and difficult to switch cords in. What's the point of allowing solar if you can't also make up for the insufficiency with a second car or ac cord? Eventually you run out of battery since it draws 500w and just have to unplug solar and let it go to waste. Not to mention the wear and tear on that single port and having to get outside of your tent to switch them if it's positioned out there. Proprietary cables rather than using xt60 for example. Says it can be charged by car port or solar but does not include the cables. I had to pay around $100 with shipping to get these two cables. The USB C port does nothing that I'm aware of. Multiple devices tried and it neither charges from or to the battery. No estimate on battery remaining from remote. Overall: I regret buying this. If I bought it again I'd at least get it without the battery since that's nearly pointless without multiple ports or a way to switch between wall and solar. The boxes were delivered mostly destroyed so I doubt I can even return it properly. I wish I would have gone for the slightly cheaper 6100 btu competitor as I doubt this thing is really putting out the 5280 it advertises. Read more
