I read a lot of negative reviews and can only guess that either people are thick, don't read well, or got a rare lemon. I bought a mug last year and liked it enough to buy another one as a present for a friend. I just bought a second one for myself because the lid broke (nothing to do with quality), as you'll see, lids are important. Here's a few things to know about lids: 1. I see a lot of reviews saying they leak while drinking. My first one fit more loosely than the new one, and it never leaked. Maybe I'm lucky and never get a faulty one. 2. I've never come close to being "scalded" as a couple reviewers noted while drinking without the lid on; however, I usually use the lid because... 3. The lid keeps the coffee hot (yes, "hot" not warm!) Speaking of heat, the description states clearly that these mugs are not designed to, nor will they, heat cold beverages. I can say with absolute certainty that yes they will (with the lid on)! I've put a full cup of cold coffee on the warmer and come back to a cup of HOT coffee. Mind you, it takes a while, I'd say between roughly an hour, but it does heat it fully. Two other discrepancies from negative reviews include never seeing the bottom "sweat" while sitting on the warming element, and never not having the cup and contacts meet up as long as I make sure to set it on properly. I also saw someone who apparently thinks either the warmer will work without being plugged in or the mug has a rechargeable battery in it keeping their drink warm, which is just plain silly. The description says to hand wash and not immerse in water. I followed that advice, so I can't say if not following it could have led to other issues people have had. Feet to the fire, I'd guess that it could. I wish it were a bit larger, but I still like it a lot and won't hesitate to recommend it or buy as gifts again. DISCLAIMER: This is my honest review. I put room temperature water in it. After 15 minutes it was luke warm. It won't heat any liquids very well. It MIGHT keep super hot liquids warm slightly longer than if it were just sitting on your desk. Read more
While yes it does keep beverages warm, and it does heat things up that are around room temperature the lid only suffices to keeping the heat in while you are warming your beverage. I have tried multiple times to drink out of the lid and it spills every time. Rather disappointing as someone who has tremors and regularly spills things anyway. Was hoping this was leak proof at least to drink out of. Update I had to remove the rubber piece around the lid and flip it inside out. That helped. However it’s been 3 months and it completely stopped working. It no longer gets hot at all. Read more
