This was an interesting piece, and a gamble to purchase. I bought it for our landing to replace a fading outdoor mat. We don't really need anything there, but I thought it would be cute, and it was! You definitely can't really vacuum this. I shake it out then vacuum the floor. It came with a few strings pulling looser than the others. I decided to leave them. I may snip them off later. I have not washed this yet, but if anything suspect happens when I do, I will update the review. For now, it looks nice, stays in place, and shakes out clean. Would definitely recommend for the $$! I would give this adorable gator rug 5 stars but the back is not that rubber criss cross thing that really does stay pretty well wherever you put it. Instead, it has all this ropey yarn on the back from the way they stitched it that they appear to have attempted putting sticky adhesive to...and the moment you put it down, that get's dirty dusty and doesn't work and it's slippery as ever! I would suggest putting this somewhere where people don't actual step on it (kinda silly I know but to be safe), or putting it on another rug that does have good grip and won't move (though that might be a tripping hazard to have layered rugs in itself). I have it layered on a rug with good traction and then I also have a cute little mini cart on top of it that holds the gator rug down and that has been the safest way for me to enjoy it. It's not as soft as some rugs, I basically think it's more a decorative piece than function; this seems super dangerous for a bathroom situation unless you use one of those rubber mat things to keep this rug from moving. Basically a really cute design idea for diehard alligator/crocodile fans like myself but be careful of the lack of traction, it's not a rug you can just break out of the plastic and slap on the floor and call it a day, but at least it didn't have a bad smell!
