I purchased this set on sale to complete my Zwilling knife collection. Due to the set being on sale, I feel that this was an excellent value for the money. If you break down the cost per knife, they would each be less than $40, I don't know how you can beat that. I already owned the 7" chef's knife, the 5 1/2" santoku, 4" and 3" pearing knives. They are very sharp and durable, with a little sharpening maintenance, they are long lasting. I would recommend these as a gift or if you are looking for a good starter set of premium knives. The set is not as comprehensive as the larger sets from the German Zeilling (Chinese is the single man, German is double man logo). I bought this for the chef knife, the bread knife and the utility knife. The shintsu knife is missing in this set but the sets that have the knife are disproportionately high in cost. Using this and the Amazon basic knife the cost of the shinitsu knife you get a whole set from Amazon basics. The two makes the combined set a perfect balance. The 57 hardness and the already sharpened blade keeps the cutting edge blade very sharp for multiple uses. Read more

Bought this same set 20+ years ago. Been using them daily since. Still sharp aand a great set of useful knives. Have added one since, Their Santoku shaped Chef's Knife. If you take simple care of them they should last almost indefinitely. Get into a quick, simple habit: Before each use, run them along the sharpening rod once or twice to straighten the edge. Immediately after use, quickly hand wash , dry and return to the block. Occasionally have them sharpened or buy a good motorized sharpener and do it yourself. I use mine daily, and bring out the sharpener every few years. The only thing I wish I had done more often was to replenish the wood block by rubbing in some Mineral Oil. Read more
