We've been elevating the quality of knives in our kitchen over the past few years and bought this Henckle because of our satisfaction with a 4" Henckle paring knife. The 6" knife was sharper than expected out of the box and required no further sharpening prior to use. The 6" blade filled a gap between the 4" paring knife and larger 8" Chef and Sontoku blades. I like this knife so much that it's tempting to replace the two 8" knives that were not inexpensive by any measure with Henckles. It will break tomato skins with almost no pressure. After almost two months it is my favorite for most food prep. I'm the food chopper in the family and have made beautiful pico de gallo and mango salsa with this knife. I have not sharpened it yet after almost daily use because it just hasn't needed to be sharpened. I also have fine woodworking planes and chisels that I keep very sharp so my standard for "sharp enough" is based on woodworking tools sharpened with diamond coated stones. Read more

I have bought, used, and gifted Henckels in sets and singles many times, but never this size. I can't believe how much I love it or why, but it is wonderful. Not too long and not too heavy, like Goldilocks: just right. I bought another for my son who loves it, too, and will get yet another soon as another gift. It has replaced my 8 inch chef's knife almost exclusively. Try one and you will thank me! Read more

Love this knife, nice firm feel when using and handle is comfortable in my hand. I did not want wood handles again as they can hold bacteria and color fades. These are easy to clean. The weight is nice heavy feel of a quality knife. Sharper than blazes keep your fingers clear. I am purchasing the whole set with a block after using this knife. You can’t go wrong with these!! This knife is fantastic. I've had mine for almost 25 years. I just bought one for my son. Pretty funny to see how much metal has been lost to sharpening over the years. I'm getting ready to buy a replacement for mine, but I'm not quite ready to give up on the one I have. The blade has stayed true, it holds an edge well, the handle has not degraded at all. It's a true workhorse. I only wash it by hand. I might consider putting it in the dishwasher, but I use it so frequently, I couldn't stand not having it available. Updated 03JAN2016 Yes! I got a new one for Christmas. I thought I would retire my old one, but I'm not ready to let it go just yet. So now I have two excellent knives in the drawer. Read more

Had a Zwilling kitchen knife for years, but the blade finally broke from the handle (wrong chopping leverage). Found this slightly larger knife (also Zwilling). The price was right. The feel was right. And, most importantly, my wife said this knife was right (whew!). So she uses this knife daily--no remarks about her old knife. From a wife/knife standpoint: Life is good again! Holds an edge as well as any other all purpose kitchen knife. I sharpen after every couple of uses. Good utility knife. Read more

Why did you pick this product vs others?: We’ve used our Zwilling Four Star knives for over forty years. We’ve put them through the dishwasher numerous times (not recommended by the manufacturer) with no rust. Only complaint is that they may be slightly brittle as we broke the tip off a paring knife. I was slightly disappointed in the usability of the 6 inch chef’s knife. I find that the 6 inch utility knife is much more usable. I recommend an 8 inch chef’s knife for most tasks. Read more
