so now I'm locked in to this set of appliance and this poor quality. Please be aware when you purchase
I bought the entire Slate finish GE appliance in late 2015/early 2016. Manufactured date of the Microwave was June 2015, so it is only about 3 years old since manufactured date, about only 2.5 years since we own it. The plastic portion of the door started cracking about two years ago, shortly after we own it. Since it is considered a "cosmetic" issue, warranty did not cover it. Well, the crack continues to expand over the past year and this week the bottom hardware of the handle pops out, so now we cannot open the microwave and it has to be replaced. I called GE's customer relations team, waited for over an hour on the phone before being able to spoke to someone. They said the microwave is no longer covered by warranty. They offered me a discount to replace the microwave for $440. This microwave is listed for $580 at Home Depot or Lowes. So overall only $140 discount, for something that is clearly a quality issue. I regret that I purchase the entire slate finish appliances which only GE makes, so now I'm locked in to this set of appliance and this poor quality.
