I was in need for single edge razor blades for a while now. i always used the double edge razor blades and just bent it in half to create single edge razor blades. This resulted in very bloody fingers. I decided enough was enough and looked on Amazon for some decent edge razors. This Derby blades were the cheapest and I decided to take the risk. I am happy I did. They are not too sharp and not too dull. They are just what I needed and there are 100 of them! Awesome buy! Read more
I use these in my Dovo and Parker shavettes. I have used a baker's dozen of different brands of blades over the years and I have found Derby to be a smooth and all around great blade that delivers. Oh i can name some other five star blades out there and Derby has earned its place among them. It's earned its place the hard way... by chopping thick whiskers off my face daily. I know blades are a 'different strokes for different folks' kind of thing, I'm just saying these blades are worth a try if you haven't done so already and I believe you too will find them to be excellent, smooth, and irritation free. They get the job done. I use them on my head and face. Read more
I've been using straight razor for a few months now. I tried 2-3 razors and 2-3 different brand blades. This one is the sharpest among all 3. Really good quality, but it was just too sharp for me. I try this blade now and then to see if I was having too many nicks and cuts because of inexperience, but I still have too many of them after all those months. If you feel like you're skilled enough, that's one of the sharpest blades. For me, Shark worked better. Read more
My first impression when I received this product was that it looked cheap. It definitely doesn't seem like something that costs between 20 and 50 dollars. It looks like something you would buy at a gas station for <$10 for a quick shave. It's made of aluminum and plastic and is extremely lightweight. It's hard to get a sense of what it looks like from the pictures on amazon. Wetshaving.net has a review and better pictures: [...] That said, it's worth the price given how many shaves you can get from the shavette and the 300 blades. And while the shavette may seem simple and cheap, it's well designed and has lasted me several years without rusting, breaking, or loosening. The only part that seems problematic is the red plastic piece which opens so you can place the razor into it. It appears like it could break easily, but, like I said, I've had it for years and that hasn't happen. The plastic must just be of a good quality. So, congrats to Dovo. Also, this razor will not cut up your face if you use it properly. Reviews that say otherwise reflect more so on the reviewer than the product itself. Do some research before using this straight razor. There's a technique to it, which is part of the attraction. You WILL cut yourself, however. Which isn't to say you'll cut yourself frequently or severely, but you're bound to get nicks every once in a while. Most of the time these nicks will be invisible, but you'll be able to feel them. I find that the likelihood of this occurring increases if I shave over the same spot several times or if I shave against the grain (which I don't recommend anyway). I use a styptic pencil to stop the bleeding (can be purchased at wal mart or walgreens for about $1). The worst cuts I've had have not been any worse than the kinds you can get from moving a modern razor laterally across your face. If you have anyone in your life who's worried about you cutting your throat open, just tell them to calm down, it's not going to happen. Read more
I ordered these as a replacement to the original 100 blades that I received in another kit. These suckers are not messing around. They are super sharp and I cut my face up pretty good the first time I used them. You just have to very carefully glide these babies right over your skin without even applying any pressure and it will do the job. Read more
fantastic blades! bought them because i forgot my original pack (the ones that came with my straight razor) at home while i was on a trip. they work just as expected, dont really need to be maintained and last a VERY LONG TIME especially for the price. this may seem weird but i use them for not just my face but my legs and body as well, a new razor would last me over a week, easily.
