Very Bright !! Easy to install liked the three settings Read more
Construction quality of this light is on par with other commercial offerings. Sturdy aluminum frame with an attractive and durable white finish. Looks good from all angles. Adequate heat sink fins to dissipate heat, although it runs fairly cool even on the highest setting of 60 watts. The lens is convex and does a good job spreading some of the light laterally, not just downwards. Color temperature is set using a switch on the light that is protected by a screw on cap. The switches inside are not labelled, but there is a sticker to the right of the switches that shows the settings that each switch position corresponds to. Color temperature can be set to 3000K, making this light usable in residential environments. This warm color option is easy on the eyes at night and similar to the color of residential landscape lighting. The whiter 4000K and 5000k options are good choices for security lighting, or for use during daylight hours. The light is designed to mount to a bracket that installs to a ceiling junction box, or as a conduit/knuckle mount. If using the bracket, it leaves a small gap between the light and the ceiling overhead. It's not much, but enough for bugs or spiders to get in there. It may be possible to install this light completely flush by removing the back cover and drilling some holes in it, but that's not how it was designed to be mounted. Another option would be to use some weather stripping or similar gasket material to close off the gap after installing the light using the bracket. Read more

Ordered this 60W LED Canopy Light with Dusk-to-Dawn Sensor - Square Gas Station Light with (3) Selectable Settings (36/48/60w) for my lean too roof, attached to my new shop bldg. I just built a new lean too on side of my shop as I needed a place to keep my trenching machines and tractor out of the weather, rain, snow, & sun when not using them. It's approx 16' x 20' open sided high roof. I needed a good light to be able to see to service them after dark, if needed to get them ready for using the next working day. Also, wanted/needed a good security light to protect my equipment as they are expensive to replace. Since I have electric in my shop, I just ran a wire through wall and out to center of rafter and put up junction box for a light. When searching, looking for a good LED light, and reading about them and comparing lights, I chose this light and ordered. This is a nice, well made light, and made of cast aluminum housing. It has built in fins on top to help get rid of any heat. I mounted it flush to bottom of rafter with a single 2" x 10" board, right beside junction box. It came pre-wired and was easy to install as it came with a flush flat mounting plate already in place. All I really had to do was prepare a base for it and hook up wires. I keep it on the 60 watt setting as I wanted it to be really bright, so I can see good at night to work. This light is nice & bright white light, just like you see at gas stations under their canopy. The 8,100 LM really lights up everything. Happy with this light. I give it a (5) star rating Read more

I wanted new lighting for my workshop which has 12 foot high ceilings and is lit by flourescents. Most high bay lights were overkill for my situation so I was looking for different options. It seemed that canopy lights would fit my needs. I was to find however that canopy lights are generally not easy to install conventionally (and in accordance with electrical wiring code) because of the way the wiring exits the fixture. Canopy wiring comes out the back of the light and is waterproofed, so the wires aren't made to be pulled back into the light fixture. The easiest installation would be where you could mount the light and then make the electrical connections after. But electrical code dictates that connections be made inside an enclosure and that's difficult if you're mounting the canopy light to an enclosed ceiling light box because the connections need to be made inside the box before the light is fully mounted. The challenge is routing the wiring and connections to the electrical supply through the 1 inch cutout on the mounting plate. Canopy lights include a suspension loop you can hang the light from when connecting the wires. But then you have to push the excess wire back through the mounting plate hole as you tilt the fixture up to mount it trying not to pinch the wires between the back of the light and the mounting plate. So overall mounting canopy lights onto ceiling electrical boxes if far from ideal although it can be done. Of course there are alternative mounting methods that can be used. This canopy light includes a dusk to dawn sensor as well as selectable wattages from 60 watts down to 36 watts, as well as selectable color temperatures. At the 60 watt setting my Kill A Watt meter showed the light drawing 55 watts. They claim 8100 lumens brightness but that at 60 watts that works out to 135 lumens per watt (8100/60=135) which puts it midway between normal LED brightnesses at about 115 lumens per watt and high efficiency LEDs that claim 150 lumens per watt. I've always taken LED lumens claims with a grain of salt as there is no real way to accurately test brightness, but this light is plenty bright. This light has the LEDs aligned in a square pattern towards the perimeter of the light face, which I find more aesthetically pleasing than the regular diffusing bezel lights. This is a quality canopy light with some nice extra features. Read more
