Let me tell ya about this Moen 1222 cartridge. Overall, it’s an amazing little part that works super smoothly once it’s in place. Installing it is usually a breeze – just pop the old one out and slide the noew one right in. I’ve had a similar cartridge in another Moen faucet, and it’s always delivered that silky-smooth operation that’s just perfect for daily use. But heads up—when you’re installing this cartridge, don’t push hard on the metal stem like I did. That’s a rookie move, and it can seriously mess things up. I tried shoving the stem into the housing, and while the metal part went right in, the plastic piece didn’t budge and ended up leaking. The water wouldn’t shut off completely after that, which was a total pain. I ended up calling a plumber who pulled the cartridge out and showed me exactly where it went wrong. Lesson learned the hard way. So yeah, be super careful and don’t force the stem. Just ease it in gently, and you’ll avoid any costly mistakes. Once installed right, this Moen 1222 cartridge performs perfectly. Read more

I recently replaced the cartridge in my Moen shower faucet with the 1222 Replacement Cartridge kit, and it was a fantastic experience. The kit comes with everything you need: the cartridge itself, a removal tool (104421), and a handle adapter (116653). The installation process was straightforward, and the removal tool made taking out the old cartridge a breeze. No special skills were required, just a little patience and some basic tools. The adapter kit was especially helpful in ensuring a smooth and tight fit for the handle, giving it a clean and secure feel after installation. The cartridge works perfectly, and my shower faucet is functioning like new again. The water temperature is now consistent, and I haven’t had any issues with it since the replacement. Plus, the high-quality materials give me confidence that it will last for a long time. If you’re looking to replace your Moen faucet cartridge, I highly recommend this 1222 Replacement Cartridge Kit. It’s an easy and cost-effective fix that brings your shower faucet back to life in no time! Read more

This all-in-one 1222 cartridge replacement kit arrived with everything I needed—replacement cartridge, the 104421 puller tool, the 116653 handle adapter, lubricant, temperature limit stop, and retaining clip. Swapping out my old Moen Posi-Temp shower cartridge was painless: the puller tool gripped the worn cartridge perfectly, and the brass-and-plastic replacement slid in smoothly once I applied the included grease. Installation took under 20 minutes from start to finish, and the new cartridge restored solid water pressure and leak-free performance. I appreciate that the kit covers all the little extras—no last-minute trips to the hardware store. The fit feels snug and reliable, and everything feels built to last. My only small quibble is that the paper instructions could be clearer on handling the temperature limit stop, so I watched a quick online video to confirm the proper placement. Otherwise, this kit is a cost-effective, professional-grade solution for anyone tackling a Moen single-handle shower repair. Read more

I should have read the one star comments. This cartridge is in fact no good as others have stated. Water would not shut completely off. The extractor tool did work well. Ended up having to buy actual Moen cartridge, it was a noticeably diffrent feel when inserting. It went in much easier and no pass by leaking shut off completely. I would not recommend buy this shower cartridge. Read more

The replacement cartridge arrived quickly and was in pristine condition. It took about 20 minutes to install. Glad I got the kit with the puller. No way was that old cartridge coming out without a lot of force. Read more

I bought this to fix a tight shower handle that failed last night. Water would not stop flowing and needed this ASAP. Lived the overnight delivery option and reasonably priced. The big box wanted ~$60 for OEM and a similar price to the generic brand but that didn’t have the tool. Tip: mine was 8 years old and relatively hard to remove with the tool. For those that recommend vise grips.. save your time and get the kit to avoid issues or damage. To get the cartridge out you can rotate slightly left to right to remove especially if the rubber gasket failed, it makes it much harder to remove. Read more
