I gave this camera module to my son to help him film his skateboarding sessions, and here’s what he had to say: The video quality is awesome—super clear and smooth, even when he’s moving fast. He likes how it captures all the little details in his tricks, especially in slow motion thanks to the 120fps. The narrow lens helps focus right on the action, and it still works great even when the lighting isn’t perfect. He’s been using it for editing clips on his laptop and is really into it. Definitely a cool upgrade for his setup. Read more

I acquired this camera module to use with a Raspberry Pi, intending to set it up as a high-quality webcam. From a technical perspective, it integrates seamlessly. As a hobbyist who often works with Raspberry Pi, I was very pleased that it was recognized instantly by the operating system with no need to hunt down or compile special drivers. The image quality itself is genuinely impressive for a module of this size, offering a clarity and resolution that surpasses many standard consumer webcams. However, the most critical factor to consider is the extremely narrow field of view (FOV) of the included lens. When used as a webcam, the image is so "zoomed in" that the camera needs to be placed much farther away from you than is practical for most desk setups. While the lens can be swapped out (a plus for project versatility), the out-of-the-box experience as a webcam is limited by this narrow FOV. It's an excellent, high-quality camera module for specific applications where a telephoto-like view is needed, but it's not well-suited as a general-purpose webcam without purchasing a different, wider-angle lens. I have high hopes for the camera when I does hopes were not met. The camera is just decent, actually not better than a cheaper 4k web camera that I currently have. The camera comes just a pictured and you will need to have a use case specific to this type of camera to make full use of it. Read more

I'm seriously impressed by this little camera. When I got it, I thought it was going to just be "okay" given its form factor. Instead, I feel like I got a DSLR (almost, not quite) quality narrow FOV camera. It honestly is impressive how much better than something like a C920. If this was a wider FOV, I'd have absolutely no problem using this as a stream cam. I plan on printing a 3d case for it to not have it be so exposed. On Windows, it worked immediately with no driver installation required. I plan on using this connected to my Raspberry Pi and it worked great there too. Overall, I really liked this camera and recommend the unit to people. Just keep in mind the very narrow FOV. I haven't tested the night time capacity -- lights are always on for what I want -- so if you want it for that, not sure how it performs. Read more

Overall, I think this is a great camera that works well and is easy to setup and use. I didn't have any issues with windows or linux recognizing it and have been able to use it on an RPI to run image classification and detection using TF. The lens that comes with it has quite a bit of reach but not a lot of adjustment, I will likely by a wider angle lens to go with it but they just screw on, which makes it very easy to swap out depending on your use. Great quality camera. The issue is the field.of view is under 25 degrees so u can't use it for most stuff unless it's far away. Idk exactly what ud use it for, I tried as a webcam no avail. Im.surw peope using this for for away or close up stuff would love this. I didn't. The quality is there the resolution is there the price is very comparable..but I found no use for it Read more

Great little camera! It doesn't come mounted which can be a plus or minus depending on what you're going to use it for. I have yet to focus it for closeups, but out of the package it's crystal clear at about 6-8 feet. It is plug and play, but don't forget to tell your computer it's ok to use. It does have a disclaimer saying not to use in humid or outdoor environments. I went on the ELP Website and their niche is small camera's like this so they know what their doing with a camera this size. This is a good product that works well and can be used in many differing applications. Read more
