These are just regular nylon bands. I like them because they don't break or slip when I use them. I need them for work to keep my hair above my collar and replacing bands can get expensive! Really expensive! And because I have thick and very smooth hair, many other bands don't usually work well. My hair doesn't slip out of these over my 12 hour work day. When these start to get loose and over stretched I just boil some water and shrink them back up. It works a good number of times before I have to throw them away. And they are cheap enough I don't mind throwing them away once they wear out. I have never had them break because they don't have a seem to snap at. They aren't super attractive, just a plan black band, but that works well for me at work anyways. Also, my hair usually rips out from getting tangled around many other hair tie types. These are smoother and pull right out without tangling as often or as badly. Although when they become over stretched they do tangle a little until I shrink them in hot water. It's been a while and I haven't even used half a sleeve, I'm surprised. Also they don't break my hair. I usually have short hairs where the old ponytail holder were breaking my hair off or making it weak so my hair would brush out in clumps. I love these hair ties. They are soft, stretchy and don't pull out your hair. I have fine hair and it hold my ponytails and buns in place without having to tie them a million times. I have two daughters. One has fine hair like me, and the other has super thick hair...enough for at least 3 other people...and we call use these hairties successfully. I didn't want to re-buy these types of hair ties from Walmart because they were like $6 for 10 of them, so I found these instead and oh my god it was so worth it. They are soft and not one has broken. They are perfect for my curly hair and don't rip my hair out when I pull them out. Also perfect if you have to get any medical things done because there is no metal in them. They don't hurt my wrist when I keep an extra on me.
