For over a month this has surprisingly withstood a lot of aggressive chasing and biting by our dog. Read more

I bought this ball August 29, 2025. Not even a month and my 9 month old puppy has already destroyed it. First, she broke the zipper because it kept coming out of the little pocket. Then she found a way to tear a piece of the fabric which she then shredded and ended up popping the inner ball. For the price of the ball I don't think its made to endure. I would only let her play with it if I was present and she didn't take long to destroy it. I won't buy again!! Read more
The media could not be loaded. My dog, a 100-pound shepherd mix, was so excited to play with this ball. Knowing how energetically he plays with his Jolly Ball (which is smaller but has survived a couple of years of rough play), I was concerned with how well this herding ball would hold up. I pumped it up so it was as hard for him to latch onto as possible. The video shows how well that worked out. ;-) He absolutely loved it for the 30 seconds that it lasted. The fact is, the inner inflatable ball (similar to an exercise ball for humans, but nowhere near as sturdy) is made of a very soft, easily tearable, gel-like material. At the end of the video, I demonstrate how easily it tears with just one hand and the weight of the ball, itself. I'm not holding it with two hands and using muscle power to pull it apart. Despite its brief life-span with my excited hunter/herder guy, I think this product would be a great toy for the "right" dog. I've seen lots of dogs who will nudge and punch a ball with their nose, shoulder, or paws and chase it around at top speed joyfully until they're exhausted...and never once bite at it. In contrast, my athletic pup likes to chase, pounce, catch, wrestle, bite and shake his toys...and finally bring them back to me for another toss. I hoped the outer skin would be tough enough to keep this toy alive longer...but, it was not to be. To last longer with my dog, the outer skin would probably need to be made of Kevlar! And the inner ball would still need to be made with the rugged material used for puncture-resistant yoga balls. Read more
My 7 month old loves it and I don't need to worry about it being punctured. 11 year old loves it too. Great product. Read more
It was great for "3" uses and then the zipper split! If there was a sturdier zipper on the cover, it would work well. Read more
Although our puppy is not specifically a herding breed she adores chasing a ball around, until now. Our dog is 1-1/2 years old and although she is losing some of her puppy tendencies she still enjoys chasing a ball around. The problem is they only last about 5 minutes before she pops them and then game over. When I came across this herding ball with cover I thought it would be perfect but alas she has no interest in it what-so-ever. The only thing I can think of is the difference in size because normally I buy smaller balls that are about 8” in diameter, but still in the blue color for visibility, and she loves chasing them around. On the other hand I love this ball but unfortunately I don’t normally go around chasing balls. The cover on this ball is great for avoiding punctures. Even if the ball does get popped it can easily be patched, put the cover back on and put it back into play. The ball is easy to inflate with the included foot pump. I did find I needed to keep the valve aligned with the zipper as it was being inflated otherwise if it gets twisted around then I couldn’t put the plug in. I also discovered not to over-inflate otherwise the cover couldn’t be zipped closed. There is also a plug remover tool included making it easy to remove the plug to let air out to store away. The cover is also beautifully sewn with clean seams and encased zipper. I think our dog prefers a smaller ball she can snatch, puncture and shake the air out of it, so probably more hunter than herder. Even though our dog has zero interest in this larger herding ball I still give it a 5 star rating because of the features and quality. Read more
