Not compatible with ALL Dell Inspiron-15s

Even though this drive is for a Dell Inspiron 15, it is uniquely specific for certain models. Not sure how to figure out what model id my computer is. Read more

My grandson likes it better than the Compaq

I receiced it on time. This was my first experience installing a hard drive because I'm less than a novice. I'm not putting myself down.I have not been trained in computers. Everything I do is expermintal and with the much needed help of the info. I receive from the internet,I try. My 12 year old grandson asked me to buy the Dell Inspiron 1545 at the garage sale for $2.00. It didn't have a hard drive and of course was not formatte. Origionally it had Windows Vista installed. I'm not a fan of Vista, so I purchased Windows 7.I figured since it's a new hard drive I should be able to install whatever I wanted. The drive sat around for awhile because of other things going on. Finall, I got some time alone and started. Static electricity will ruin the componets inside so you have to protect them. The hard drive lays in a cradle and is screwed in..That cradle installs in the front left.It just slides in and conects with,I suppose the motherboard inside. No screws came with the harddrive or cradle. The screws I had didn't fit so being impatient, I cut strips of narrow duct tape around the cradle and drive.and inserted it. It must be allright because I'm using it right now. My grandson likes it better than the Compaq. He's happy,I'm happy. The experiment went well. Read more

I guess just a bad hard drive...

I can't get this hard drive to work. I looked for a solution to the problem for 3 1/2 hours. I put the hard drive in and the computer read 'No boot device found'. I surfed youtube looking for a solution, (which there are many uploaded), yet the only one I found (that would seem to work, as all the others don't) would be to replace the hard drive. But Garrett! (some smart cookies might say) There are many causes to this problem, how do you know it's the hard drive? I'm glad you asked, you brainy biscuits, not only did the problems start when I installed the hard drive (Which was part of an extensive repair) I singled out each part of the computer that could cause this problem. There are three components that could cause the problem. The CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive, the Onboard NIC, and of course, The internal hard drive. The onboard NIC also had problems, but thats not what I'm ranting about. I tested all three, the CD/DVD/CD-RW Drive was fine, but the other two components weren't. I should also mention that I got the hard drive only two days prior, and there was no break in the packaging that I could see. I wish I knew what was going on with this hard drive, but for now, all i know is that I'll be retuning it. Read more
