This 2-piece cookware set – a saucepan and a frying pan – were delivered the very next day after I ordered them. They were well-packaged, undamaged and in perfect brand-new condition. If you typically have to cook for more than 1-2 people these items will not sit your needs. But if you’re just cooking for yourself and maybe one other person, this cookware set is wonderful. Both the saucepan and frying pan are very well-made, solid and sturdy. The pictures in the Amazon item description make it appear that the handles are wood but, in fact, they are made of some sort of thermoset plastic with a wood-grain appearance. I like the wood look! It’s nice! The saucepan comes with a lid which is a perfect fit. The frying pan does not come with a lid but I’m not taking any stars off for that as I think this is stated in the item description. Both of these cooking vessels are a good weight, solid, sturdy, easy to use and well-balanced, as all things should be. Having used them now for a variety pf purposes for almost three months I can say that they heat evenly and have excellent non-stick properties such that they clean up easily. It is said that there are no toxic substances in them but I have no way of testing that or of knowing whether my other cookware does or does not. There are just lots of unknowns in life. This 2-piece nonstick set is perfect for a beginner kitchen. The 8.5" frying pan and 1.43QT saucepan with lid are just the right size for everyday cooking — I’ve used them for eggs, stir-frys, sauces, and simple meals. Theae are fine starter pieces when you need the basics for one person. The coating is properly non-stick, the base metal is relatively thick, and the lid fits well. Negatives- the handles are textured plastic not wood, and the pattern was certainly a choice. They're maybe a bit expensive for the sizes you get but maybe that's the new normal now. Like the other 3 pot/pans set from Jovire I received, the frying pan does not have a matching lid, nor is it available for separate purchase. Which is a bummer b/c I really like this faux wood handle thing they have. Also like the other set, I do feel the handle cover comes up to close to the pan so you can't have the flame too high or risk burning the handle cover. Other than that, their great to use for light cooking. I'm not sure what the non-stick coating is but they have sort of a cast iron surface feel. I would also say they are a tad pricey but my old pots/pans are mostly sub $10 purchased from restaurant supply stores where the non-stick pans usually last 2 years and I just recycle them. Whatever coating these pans have, i hope they last a while because I like the feel quite a bit. Read more
I have bought many speckled camping gear in the past and am used to having items with a "speckled" look. That said, when I took this pan out of its packaging I thought something went wrong with the shipment. I had a to do a double take. The design on the INTERIOR of these items looks like mold, plain and simple. Which is a disgusting look for clean cookware. I actually am shocked how the multicolor misshapen speckles looks so similar to pots that have been in the sink for weeks. Unfortunately I'm taking away two stars for just the design element because it's just so bothering to me that it looks so dirty even when being brand new and washed. That's really the ONLY downside to these items. At first I was a bit disappointed when I received this skillet and pan set because the non-stick pan had blue colored flecks that were larger than most non-stick cookware, and it just looked peculiar. But when I decided to give it a try, and placed them on my stovetop to photograph, looked absolutely great in my kitchen. I mean they went from sort of strange looking to like they were made for it. I wanted to see how the no -stick Coating actually performed, so I melted a small bit of butter in the pan on low, and fried an egg. It cooked beautifully, and did not stick at all. I washed the skillet by hand and it cleaned up perfectly as well. The handle on the k killer and pot and the knob on the lid have a wood look, but they’re cool to the touch and almost feel like a type of rubber - soft and squishy. I’m surprised I liked them as much as I did, and had I not just purchased an entire 14 piece cookware set, I’d consider buying more of these. Read more
This pot and pan set turned out to be a really solid non-stick starter set. It’s the kind of thing that works great for someone just starting out in the kitchen, or for people like me who are admittedly a little rough on their cookware and need to replace pieces more often than they’d like to admit. Cooking in them has been smooth sailing. Even after a few weeks of regular use, nothing has stuck, and cleanup has been super quick and easy. They also stack and store well, which is always a plus when cabinet space is limited. When my husband first told me he ordered these, I thought it was just a two-piece set with a sauce pot and a frying pan. I was pleasantly surprised to find the saucepan came with a lid too, since most brands count that as a third piece and market it differently. A nice little bonus. If I had to nitpick, I’m not the biggest fan of the speckled design, but my husband knew what he was ordering, so I’ll just roll with it.
