Stem Parts are identical. The springs are a bit smaller but still work fine. O rings and retainer seals are identical to original. Large flap seal was identical. Silicone grease packet was included. I followed the troubleshooting instructions for my 1" Zurn 975XL2 when it started spewing water all the time, and they were WRONG - shutting valve #2 didn't stop the discharge, but contrary to Zurn, it was the upper plunger in check #2 that had failed by breaking above the o-ring, NOT some part (or crud) in check #1. Cleaning out the broken piece eliminated the massive discharge but left a continuous discharge from the relief valve cover. I put a 6" rubber-jawed clamp over the hole to reduce the leak to a slow drip while waiting for the E-cowlboy repair kit to arrive. Now, to the E-cowlboy - it took about 5 minutes to remove the bolts from the relief valve cover and replace the assembly with the upper and lower plunger and diaphragm, lightly smooth the inside of the relief valve cover with some #600 emery cloth, clean it, apply some grease to the upper plunger o-ring, and reassemble. I had previously flipped-over the rubber washers in the first and second stages and all other parts looked good, so I saved the rest of the E-cowlboy repair kit for future use and reinstalled everything. Be careful when ordering this kit. The relief valve upper plunger that was included was slightly off on the diameter and thus would not fit in the preventer relief valve cover plate. Don't know who made this, but the holes on the big diaphragm don' line up with the holes on the backflow. Precisely, when the small hole on the top that lets water through is lined up, the bottom two holes are not aligned. By fiddling with the diaphragm I was able to get one bolt through but not the other. Had to cut that hole with a knife to make it bigger, but still couldn't get the bolt through. Good parts kit, HOWEVER, make sure the washer screws on the popits are TIGHT. Mine were not, and backflow was leaking. It took several reassemblies/disassemblies to finally find the problem, hence the 4 out of 5-star rating. Also, if you replace the plastic seat of the diaphragm , don't forget the small o-ring that goes between the seat and the brass - another trial and error I had encountered! Had a back flow preventer that was leaking and was not looking forward to spending $400 plus for a new one. Found out I could rebuild instead, saving hundreds. Found this kit, for $130 less than my local sprinkler shop. Could have spend $30 less, going with the “seal” kit which is just the O rings, bladder and gaskets but decided to replace everything. Took me 30 minutes to rebuild and my BFP works like new. FYI…Have seen reviews about how holes don’t line up on the bladder, “zebra print” faces out for those who are looking to just replace the bladder. It would also be nice if this kit came with the tool to remove the threaded plastic rings that are inside the unit. Overall extremely happy, this kit saved me $450. Read more
