This mask is very light weight and makes for a nice fashion choice regardless of weather. It's not warm like a standard balaclava however I definitely like this for use with warmer weather where you may want to use it to help prevent sunburn (especially if your bald or have short hair), or prefer the hood with a t-shirt look, or even need it to help take the edge off of the wind (it won't stop the wind as its a very thin material but could potentially take the edge off in a bind). I also really like how compact it is making it easy to store in a purse, backpack, or even a pocket. if your looking for a summer weather hood, I recommend giving this a chance. Read more

I got this for my husband to use while mowing our 2 acres. We live in a very dry dusty area and he is allergic to every weed he has to mow. Usually he has to use several different layers of clothes and things to keep the dust off of him and avoid hives and this looked like it would do the job. It worked perfectly! Not a spec of dust on him and its also very good at blocking the sun. Its a lightweight material which is perfect for us, living in a hot climate. It fit him perfectly as well. The material also makes it very easy to clean. Read more

The fabric on this is extremely light and soft while also maintaining great coverage. It’s easy to forget that you are wearing it because it’s so comfortable and easy to have on. It can also handle a regular wash and can make it through the dryer unscathed which I was really impressed with. I got this to wear as part of a ninja costume but I live in a very cold city and will 100% be wearing this out during the winter to stay warm as well. Read more

This lightweight and versatile face cover is a solid choice for outdoor activities like biking, skiing, or motorcycling. It feels airy and comfortable when used as a neck gaiter or partial face shield — easy to pull up and down as needed. However, when worn as a full face cover I found it less comfortable: it didn’t sit as smoothly across the jawline or stay flush around the cheeks as I would’ve liked. Also, heating it up to act as a warm layer (especially in cold weather) wasn’t its strong point — the fabric doesn’t retain warmth as effectively as more insulated masks. If you need a budget-friendly, multipurpose cover that you can use around the neck, under a helmet, or for partial face protection, this one works well. Just know that for full-face coverage or cold-weather warmth it may fall a bit short. Read more

Definitely not as described. This face mask is very thin stretchy polyester (it feels like very very thin Lycra tights that you buy to wear more as panty hose than tights) that will do nothing for keeping the cold off of your face and it’s far too thin to have any effect against the wind. The inner piece folds upwards to cover your face and has two loops that go over your ears and those are supposed to hold it up and keep it in place. These ears loops are uncomfortable and do not keep the face covering part of the mask in place, it’s very loose so wind just blows right in it. Your face would literally freeze if you wore this while skiing. It’s not comfortable enough to wear for more than five or so minutes. This could have been a good mask with some adjustments but as it is it’s kind of pointless and useless the way it’s made and the material that it’s made from. I can’t recommend this face mask even at the cheap price of $10 that it was at the time I ordered it. Read more

This is an incredibly comfortable and lightweight hood. It feels like silk and is so light that it won't add any significant weight to your pack—I'd guess it's only one or two ounces. This item is very versatile and can be worn in multiple ways: as a hood, a mask, a neck gaiter, or a combination of them. It's thin enough to wear a beanie underneath. It also works well as a balaclava for adding an extra layer of warmth in the winter. For summer, it's a great "physical sunscreen" layer, and a quick dunk in water makes it perfect for hot days. The best feature, in my opinion, is the adjustable ear loops. Unlike other balaclavas I've owned, these loops hold the mask securely in place and keep it from slipping off your nose. Just a heads-up, the stock photo is a little misleading; what looks like a nose loop is actually one of the ear loops shown at a strange angle. I instantly regretted not getting the black one. This fabric is so light that the color won't matter much for sun protection, and black would be much better at hiding stains. If you do get the white color, be cautious when cleaning. The robot says it's best to use oxygen bleach (like OxiClean) on polyester rather than chlorine bleach. I do wish there were more color options than just black and white. Read more

I am fairly impressed with this Balvaclava. It is lightweight and comfortable to wear. I like the ear loops that help to keep the mask part on, but it could use another cinch point to tighten the fit over the mouth and nose better. I can not speak to the cold weather/ski capabilities. It hasn't gotten very cold or snowed yet here in the Mountain West, though it will come in short order. I will have to update on that when it happens. And By the time I got it summer had ended and the sun protection isn't needed as much. What I like best it is works awesome if you have a kid that wants to be a ninja, black ops type for Halloween. It fit perfectly with his costume. It is a great price for that kind of thing and then he can use it for when he has to walk home in the winter. Win win! Read more
