Wonderful lighter that needs no fuel and works best on windy days! Read more
I bought this set to distribute among 3 sons. They LOVED, LOVED the lighter so much. It's useful, you never know when you might need this, but if you do- you'll be happy you bought it. It's perfect for lighting a fire, or cig, when a regular lighter isn't available or if wind/weather conditions make a traditional lighter (or matches) unusable. Best part of this is: unlike a BIC or Zeppo (or the like), these do not require lighter fluid, or any other flammable liquid. It lights itself using a striker, which creates a spark on the rope, and then you have a burning ember on the end of the rope which can be used to ignite a fire. It's great for people who like World War II inspired items, survival enthusiasts, novel item collectors, etc. My son's loved it just because it looks so different from modern lighters and it works really well with or without wind. I would definitely recommend this particular lighter. I tried each lighter before gifting them to my sons. I was delighted to see them working, as described. Very cool, very useful. Read more
I just turned 65, and one lesson I've learned very well over those years is that often times "old school" is the best school of all. These work beautifully, and I'm amazed at their effectiveness. Something that has been around since World War One will work just as well today for you, as it did for those poor guys slogging around in the mud and the blood way back then. Simple and effective, and I'm glad I bought three of them. These could literally be a life saver when you can't get a match or a lighter to stay lit. Awesome, and I love things that are so simple in their nature, yet just as effective as any modern computer designed item. They are a marvel unto themselves. Totally brilliant, and just awesome. Great fire starters. Used as stocking stuffers. Read more
These are cool little curio lighters. They do not look authentic on close inspection but they work well. The metal is cheap & there is an obvious seam. A real brass or steal one might be too much though - still a cool little gift and emergency fire source. Read more
Two words… Must have. If you are a “Prepper” and do not smoke, this is a must have! It’s very simple design, and offers a level of functionality and freedom beyond most lighter, hence why they call it trench lighter! In most weather conditions will catch an ember. Unless it is wet! But even a lighter needs to be dry to start, no love lost there. In a state of emergency, you have to worry about some sort of lighter fuel or gas and the capacity of fuel. Not here, the rope aka wick is your fuel. It is plenty long, nearly 12 inches and once the rope is prepped, a simple process… just light it with fire and let the tip of the rope burn a little. Once it’s charred a bit, done! It will catch an ember easy! Wind a concern? No need to worry… it’s is 100% wind resistant! In fact, it will be your friend! Unless we are talking hurricane winds! Just need a little tinder and the magic happens! The flint is very small. Highly recommend buying a pack of flints. I think it’s one standard size flint. The flint tube is long and would appear to hold a lot, but I only feel comfortable place one in plus the little tiny one that is provided. In my bug out bag I have a water proof container with a bunch flints, got those here on Amazon too. Obliviously, the picture of the glowing ember is assisted with me blowing on it. Not going to burn like that without assistance. Read more

This thing is so awesome! Once you burn the rope with a lighter the first time, it will burn with a couple sparks from the flint. This won’t go out even with the wind, in fact blowing on it makes it stronger. Great invention. I have one in my edc bag. No need for any fuel. Read more
These rope lighters are great! They catch spark easily and the wind doesn't blow it out, rather it makes it work better. I got mine a few years back and looked it so much I got three more for gifts and a backup for myself. It's even good for letting my son use for firecrackers, the pubks they hand out at the stands always have the ember fall off, but not theses bad boys. Read more
