The idea of having a little portable matchstick lighter is a good one. A match you can carry with you anywhere would be very convenient. This product unfortunately has problems. First, it comes without any documentation whatsoever. You have to figure it out on your own. I can’t imagine why the vendor would sell something like this without any instructions, but they do. After doing a bit of research I understood how this match worked. I added some kerosene/lamp oil to the reservoir – enough to dampen the wick without having liquid pouring out of the lighter. So far so good. I proceeded to strike the match along the magnesium bar. And strike. And strike. And strike. Only a few times did I actually get a spark, and none of those times did the wick light. Neither of the two lighters want to strike a spark. I finally realized the devices just weren’t going to ignite despite my repeated attempts to create a spark. The fact the matches won’t spark leads me to believe it’s a manufacturing problem, probably due to poor materials being used. Either way, my advice is to save yourself from the frustration I went through and stay away from this one. Read more
