Great, cheap alternative to Laundry Sanitizer
I originally bought Steramine when all other sanitizers had sold out at the beginning of Covid, as it contains coronary ammonium, the basic family of chemicals used in Lysol, hospital, sanitizing wipes, and most other non-bleach sanitizers. This particular product is designed for dunking dishes into a dilute solution to sanitize them at restaurants and is considered food-safe without a rinse. That being said, half a tablet in a 1 quart spray bottle makes the more concentrated end of its recommended use, and works great for sanitizing countertops with a slight clean effect, without a need to rinse them down to remove detergent like is the case with Lysol concentrate. My primary use for this is as a "laundry sanitizer", both to help kill off nasty's coming home from work on scrubs, and to keep workout clothes smelling fresh. It's much cheaper than Lysol brand laundry sanitizer, it seems to work just as well. I dissolve two tablets in some warm water and pre-soak the laundry for about 15 minutes, and have a great results. Even when I've forgot laundry in the washing machine overnight, there is never a musty smell like when it happens without laundry sanitizer. The stuff really is a multipurpose sanitizer, and unbeatable for the price. Read more
