It was also comfortable in the car but I prefer something not quite as thick (high) for that act. I'm on the heavier side but do not feel this pillow needs to be any larger -- it does not create any abnormal pressure points. It is soft enough to "give" as opposed to being a hard resistance. The bottom is a layer of non-slip beads which is likely taken for granted as the pillow stays put while plopping down. This is good quality memory foam. I recently had a hemorrhoidectomy, and this donut pillow was amazing! It helped ease the pressure and discomfort when sitting down. 2 weeks after my surgery, I had to go back to the hospital for another minor same-day procedure, so I took my pillow with me knowing I'd be waiting around for a while. I'm VERY GLAD that I did! I had to wait/sit on a standard hard hospital bed and this pillow made me comfortable the entire time. I got the heather gray one instead of the basic black.
