At first I was skeptical because I saw the word "Generic" thinking it was not going to be a good quality hard drive but the seller had the description "Will send Western Digital or Seagate drive". I thought about it and I took a chance and bought one and recieved a good quality Seagate hard drive at a great price. Well, considering how high the ratings are you might as well purchase one if you are in need of more space. I bought a 500GB HDD to replace the factory 80GB I've been using ever since I bought my PS3. The hard drive works great and now I can install all my games and DLC content onto my PS3 as well as all the anime and movies I've downloaded too. Replacing the drive is very easy but waiting for games to re-install/update is the hard thing to do. After swapping drives, it showed 412GB / 465GB. Now I'm glad I can finally play GT6 and GTA V since the install of those games takes up a lot of space. Read more

A week in and it's working great in my PS3. Installation was easy but time consuming, with 95% spent backing up the old drive and then transferring it to the new one once installed. But the steps to take are simple and easily found on Sony forums and on YouTube. A little time on Google will get you all the info you need if you don't already know. Just be aware you'll need a 2nd external drive formatted to Fat32 to back up to if you don't already have one. And if you don't already have a use for it, you can order a casing and use your old drive as a new external when you're done. Read more

I got this hard drive on Monday. So far almost a week in and everything works just fine. I followed the process of switching out your HDD for your PS3 and placed my 500GB HDD inside the system. The drive worked great and the 4.66 update was installed. once I restored my console I checked my system information and there it was. The amount of free space of GB was updated. Then after that came the tedious task of reinstalling EVERYTHING onto this new HDD. Everything from my flash drive where my game saves were stored, to all my purchases on the PSN store and installing all the game data from my games. Having to do that with gta 5 again was annoying ha. I should also mention the the drive runs smoothly. My PS3 purrs and runs great. What I thought was weird was that in the description it said "2.5 SATA" but when I looked at it and read the info on the HDD it said "3.0 SATA" but still had the 500 GB. Still it works with my PS3. I had my doubts about this drive at first just because its generic but hey it works fine and I feel so much better knowing that I have ALOT of free space now on my PS3. Read more

It has been almost 2 months since I bought this HDD for my PS3 Super Slim, but less than a month of actual use. As of late, I have had several HDD-related crashing issues, several "file system corrupted" messages, have had to restore the HDD in a desperate bid to fix the issues (worked for an hour), games pausing mid-gameplay in order to load content from the HDD, very long loading times, games sometimes failing to start, sound glitches while loading, the XMB interface taking minutes to load any options, download speeds be further throttled by the HDD's ability to write data to disk, and accessing trophies is a nightmare of loading that goes on for as long as 4 minutes. I guess this is what I get for going for a cheap HDD. I want a refund, but my refund period has ended. Read more

Hey guys - I bought this because I needed to upgrade my 160GB PS3 for more storage space. I've had it installed for over a month now and it still works flawlessly. I'll report more if anything happens, but I must say this is a solid product, especially for the price. Installation isn't too complicated, however you will need a USB flash drive to download the PS3 boot file and install it on the PS3. That's about it, though. It took less than 40 minutes for me.
