Espresso screen’s the last piece for a home barista
First time using a screen with my Delonghi Dedica and I found the extraction is more uniform and a smoother espresso, the cream is consistent with every shot, either single or double. Looking to use it with the bottomless portafilter this weekend. Great value, easy to use and clean. Keeps the head cleaner. Read more

OK, but not for me
These are a little tough to review because I don't necessarily know if it is just my machine that is the issue or if these just create too much pressure. For that reason I'm not rating them poorly even though I probably won't be using them anymore. They do seem well-made, they're quite inexpensive, and I appreciate the use of 316SS vs 304. My reason for getting them in the first place was that on my De'Longhi EC155, using a bottomless portafilter, I frequently find that the filter basket sticks to the machine when I go to remove the portafilter. That might be a combination of overfilling the basket, leaving it on too long while the machine cools, and/or a gasket that needs replacing and has gotten sticky. I figured this screen might prevent that while offering some of the other listed benefits. Well, it did prevent the sticking, but I found that the screen itself was getting pressed down onto the grounds creating a little too much pressure for the machine to overcome. And while the portafilter came off the machine cleanly I then had to either remove the screen first or dig it out of my knock box. Furthermore, the puck would really be pressed in and harder to knock out, with the whole basket often coming out of the portafilter instead of just the puck. So, while it did fix one problem it created others, including choking the machine a bit resulting in a poor dark crema, if any at all. Maybe a better espresso machine can overcome the added pressure, but my little guy can't do it so I'm going back to not using the screen. One other thing to note is that the screen has some thickness to it so you do need to leave room for it to sit on top of the grounds. Read more
