My poor husband spend 4-5 hours assembling it but at least it looks good :) This is MDF wood but the walnut color wood grain looks realistic. Much smaller than what I was expecting and very cheap quality materials for price. Difficult to adjust where electric runs through as there is a large section completely enclosed (wasted space) and only one small area to run the cord through. Took three people 4 hours to assemble (and we know what we are doing - we assembled another desk and cabinet this week). It looks okay, and all the parts do work, but I would not buy this again.
