Both the cat and the dog seem to go to this water fountain before going to the big bowl (the just in case unfiltered bowl). The battery lasts about a week, the water does drain quickly if there is a lot of motion through out the day to trigger the fountain. Otherwise, this is a great fountain. This is the second water fountain I have bought. I bought my first one about a year ago and I LOVE IT! My cats are drinking a lot more water and seem more active and healthy! The large size means I'm not constantly refilling a water jug. I have 2 cats and I refill this about once a week. After about a year it did start to develop a weird pink goo. I think this is very common with all the water fountains I have seen regardless of the price. I would highly recommend buying 2 and swap them out when you have to change the filter and set the other one out to fully dry. Drying them fully is the only way to prevent future goo and mold buildup. I bought this one just so I can swap them out every couple of weeks when the filter needs changing. I've had this several months now - I feel I can give a more fair review than when it's fresh out of the box. All my cats loved it immediately. A few of them liked to play with it and splash around at first, but eventually got over that, and mostly use it properly now (I type as a cat next to me has been just making the water run and staring at it for the past five minutes). They won't drink from a normal dish anymore - only the fountain. Overall, I'm more than happy with it. The battery life it far better than expected. I generally try to charge it every two or three weeks, but it can go longer, even though it sits in a high traffic area so it get's triggered a lot, plus six cats using it. It's easy to clean. I've had no trouble with the filter clogging, even with 6 long-haired cats. It comes with a tool for regularly cleaning the pump. I've cleaned the pump once so far, and it was easy to do, but I was surprised to see no fur inside the pump anyhow. What else? It very quiet, like they advertised. The only sound I really hear is the water running, not the pump. The large size is good if you have multiple cats. And, to me, the ease of changing the filter puts this model above others I looked at. I have nothing negative to say. Read more

This water bowl for the cats it really very good! The build is great! The motor is really quite unlike to wall plug in versions. I have had a few of the wall plug in watering troughs but had to move them or shut them off and pack away, the bussing and noise transfer to the floor or what ever suraface was extreamy loud. I have my new water plugged into the wall for full time running now so my cat will get used to the new system. In time I will change it to motion activation. I have not gone thru all the programming features yet. The motion activation seems to be a bit delayed, there may be a way to shorten the delay to initiate right away when the cat walks to it or just past it. My cat is a rescue and everything takes time with her. She is a bit slow to learn. This works so well, I imidiatly orderd a second one for girfriends cats! Within two (2) days I had two new cat watering fountains. Delivery wheir I am is very fast. I give this system a FIVE star rating for Form, Fit, Function. It works amazing! It has a tremendously long-lasting wireless electrical charge! I only charged it one time with the USB and it's still going strong after more than one month without any additional recharging. If I do have to recharge someday, it will be quick and simple as the first time. Charging is fast and simple, but you rarely have to worry about charging. Also, the motion sensor works so well when my cat approaches. She loves using it! It's so quick and easy to clean because it's stainless steel. But since it's steel and uses filters, the water stays clear and clean anyway regardless of whether I decide to wash it or not. It is very heavy duty and very well built. The filters are well designed and finely engineered and they are so easy to drop in! It's so high tech! I can't believe it was so affordable to buy! You'd think a high tech quality product like this would be hundreds of dollars in pet care investment. But it's only around 30 or 40 bucks. I will recommend to everyone!
